Q: Hi All,
As per the new law regarding drugs, will deportation be mandatory even for those who have tested positive before the new law is implemented?
My husband was called by CID and came positive for a drug test in October and was released after 2 days without meeting the Prosecutor. Now our first hearing with the Public Prosecution is coming on Monday. Can the Prosecutor order a jail term?
I do not need mobile numbers for contact, I need genuine answers. He is a first-time offender.

My brother was arrested in a car for possession of only 2g of drugs. What is the maximum penalty he could face?

0
Q: Dear Sir/Madam,
I need help, please!
My brother was arrested in a car for possession of only 2g of drugs. The police charged him with possession and usage in Umm Al-Quwain.
The transaction amount was only 400. But my brother did not have any possessions; he had only borrowed money.
Another charge is that he helped a friend use drugs, but he did not help anyone. That friend is older than my brother.
May I know if this is also considered an offence, and what is the maximum penalty he could face?
He is also a first-time offender in a drug case.

How to remove a lifetime ban after serving jail term and deportation in a drug case?

0
Q: I would like some advice.
Someone has been deported from the UAE after serving 1.5 years in jail for a drug case and has a lifetime travel ban.
Does this ban remain only in the UAE, or is it applicable to other GCC countries such as KSA, Qatar, or Oman?
Additionally, is there a way to remove this travel ban in the UAE when a person's family is still based in the UAE?
If yes. What’s the procedure?

Please, I need help. I had a case where someone sent money to my account. I was selling USDT, but another person used me, scammed the person, and sent money to my account.
I sent the USDT. I didn't know the person who sent the money to my account, so I gave him the USDT. Later, I was arrested for scam and using cryptocurrency without a license.
The judgment came out: to pay 900 AED, 1 month imprisonment, and deportation. Please, can I appeal not to be deported?

UAE Amnesty Scheme 2024: What You Need to Know 16
The UAE attracts a large population of expatriates from around the world for business or leisure. It occurs sometimes that those expatriates violate the rules of their visas and incur overstay fines which accumulate the longer they stay beyond their visa's expiry date. This may result in travel restrictions, banning violators from entering the UAE for a certain period or lifetime. The UAE authorities have now announced a two-month scheme for violators to rectify their situations.

Unable to contact my landlord: How do I move out and recover my deposit when the tenancy ends? 0
Hello,
I am a tenant in Shoreline, Palm Jumeirah.
I am currently trying to move out of the property where I have lived for the past two years. However, my landlord has become unreachable, and I have been unable to discuss the return of my security deposit or arrange the move-out process.
I provided the required non-renewal notice two months ago and have made several attempts to contact the landlord via both email and WhatsApp, but have received no response. My Ejari expired two days ago, and the community management has advised that they cannot issue a move-out permit without the landlord's involvement. As a result, I am unable to complete the move-out process or hand over the keys.
Could you please advise what steps I should take in this situation? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

How can I recover money from a colleague who blocked me and refuses to repay? 0
Hello,
I am seeking your legal advice regarding a matter involving a former colleague who borrowed money from me for personal reasons.
Despite multiple follow-ups, he has now blocked all communication and is refusing to repay the amount. I have clear proof of the transaction through bank transfer records, WhatsApp conversations, and a copy of his Emirates ID.
This individual has a history of borrowing money from others and not repaying, and even told me to "go to the police," showing no intention of resolving the issue.
Please advise on the best legal course of action to recover the amount and proceed with a formal complaint if necessary.
Looking forward to your guidance!

What can I do if my company filed a breach of trust case against me after losing money I held from customers? 0
Hi Sir,
My company was not giving me my commission cheques since November, so I kept the payment of 2 - 3 customers with me and I told the company to pay my commission to take payment of customers, then I lost the money from the car.
I reported it to police, but police didn't find any evidence. Then my company came to know this matter, and they said I owed them money. They forced me to sign a paper that I would pay in one month for the amount of 18000.
I signed it, then they terminated me. They were not ready to pay anything. I filed a case in labor for about 37000 dhs, then my company filed a criminal case against me for breach of trust.
My company has my passport, and they haven't canceled my visa yet. After my labour case, my company filed the case against me in labour as well, claiming an amount of 49900.
Then they requested to cancel the labour case of 49900 and filed a case 24000.
What should I do in this scenario?
I am under too much stress.
Please advise.

How can victims file a group case for fraud, bounced cheques, and misuse of credit cards? 0
Hello,
I would like to ask for legal advice regarding a fraud case in Abu Dhabi involving multiple victims. The suspect issued bounced cheques, received AED with a promise to exchange it into IDR but failed to deliver, misused other people’s credit cards, and operated an unlicensed travel/tour business.
Many clients paid for Umrah or vacation packages that never happened. The total loss is significant, and many victims have evidence such as WhatsApp chats, bank transfers, and bounced cheques.
We believe this involves a breach of trust and embezzlement. We would like to know if we can file a group case, what legal steps to take, and the cost of legal representation.
Thank you!

UAE inheritance: should succession for an expat start locally or abroad? 0
My brother-in-law (brother of my wife) has passed away in the UAE. He was the only sibling of my wife, and his mother passed away long ago. He had no children and left behind a widow and father. He had a property mortgaged and one off-plan property. He has a car lease and end-of-service pending with his company.
How and where should we start, and what is the best suitable approach? Should we start a succession certificate in the home country and then present it to the UAE court, or start in the UAE?

What can I do if my ex keeps contacting and threatening me online? 0
I was previously in a relationship with a man who kept contacting me from random accounts after I blocked him multiple times. We sometimes reconnected until I stopped talking to him completely.
He then threatened to ruin my life, spread fake rumours about me at my workplace and college, and make me regret leaving him. Since he has many friends in my small college, I felt very scared. I blocked him and told my family. My mother warned him that if he contacted me again, she would file a police report. He claimed he recorded only the part where he said he “wouldn’t do anything,” not the threats, and I had no evidence because I was crying and scared.
Despite my mother’s warning, he later contacted me again from accounts saying “accept urgently” and “please accept I have something to tell you”. Now I feel scared and unsure what to do.

How to exit a joint property mortgage in the UAE after divorce or separation 0
I am seeking legal advice regarding a jointly owned property in the UAE. I remain co-liable on the mortgage; however, due to a significant and immediate change in my financial circumstances, I am no longer able to continue meeting my share of the payments.
The agreed sale of the property has also become delayed and uncertain, increasing my financial exposure and risk. In addition to the financial strain, the situation has had a considerable personal impact. Continuing to be tied to the property, including previously living in the same space as my former spouse, has been psychologically challenging and is affecting my ability to maintain stability and move forward.
Given this, I would like to understand:
What legal options do I have to exit or limit my liability under the mortgage?
Whether a forced sale or similar remedy is possible if the current sale does not proceed?
What immediate steps should I take to protect myself financially?
Please let me know if you are available for a consult.

Will UAE Courts allow child relocation after divorce if the father is Emirati? 0
Hello,
I am a European citizen married to a UAE national. We started the process of divorce last week. We have been married for 7 years and have a daughter. We will put in the agreement that I wish to relocate with her to my home country, where I own a home and also share the home with my parents. We have spent significant time there during these years, and my parents are here too, so my daughter is very attached to them. In the UAE, it's husband, me and her; sometimes we meet with my mother-in-law, but other than that, there is no family environment.
We agree on all the aspects of co-parenting (visits, alimony, video calls, schooling). He will also give notarized approval to submit with a draft, and I have attested the title of deed proving I own a place to be over in my home country. As much as separation is difficult, we are both aware that post-divorce life in two homes, with my daughter having no family at all around, will be even worse.
Will the court approve the relocation?

In addition to the financial strain, the situation has had a considerable personal impact. Continuing to be tied to the property, including previously living in the same space as my former spouse, has been psychologically challenging and is affecting my ability to maintain stability and move forward.
Given this, I would like to understand:
What legal options do I have to exit or limit my liability under the mortgage?
Whether a forced sale or similar remedy is possible if the current sale does not proceed?
What immediate steps should I take to protect myself financially?
Please let me know if you are available for a consult.

Thank you.

Can majority partners remove a partner in a UAE free zone company? 0
We are 3 partners for a Free Zone registered firm in the UAE, and one of the partners is involved with another Company (our competitor) as a partner or in some other capacity, which is unknown.
He has been working for that company and demanding monthly remuneration from our company, and he is also demanding an amount for his exit.
Can we both partners exercise our majority and remove him from the Partnership?

Can a bank freeze my account over an alleged scam without a court order? 0
Dear experts!!!!
Please, does a bank have the authority to freeze your account based on the assumption that they think you are a second beneficiary of an advance scam without any prior court order or police case involvement, solely based on a victim report, so they traced and blocked both the first beneficiary and second beneficiary accounts?
I am just getting to know that my account has been frozen because they labelled me as the second beneficiary, and I have been providing proof of receipts and evidence to prove that the reason I got the remittance is legit, but they kept my account frozen to date.
Appreciate your opinions and my legal grounds.

What can I do if the employer refuses to compensation and settlement after terminating me without notice? 0
I work for a Meydan Freezone employer under a limited contract. The employer has terminated my contract without notice after 1 year and is not offering to pay 3 months' compensation severance, nor a notice period, nor a correct settlement.
They are asking me to sign a contract to waive it. I contacted MOHRE, who stated you need a NOC or referral letter from Meydan, but Meydan stated they do not issue one, and private matters and disputes are between you and the employer.

How to clear name and go back if you left the UAE with an unpaid personal loan? 0
My brother had a personal loan of 300k.
He lost his job, and the company terminated him, and his visa was cancelled, so he moved back home in 2015. He is trying to find a job back in the UAE.
Is there any way to get him cleaned, paying the court fine?
The bank he had a loan with has been merged with other groups, and he doesn't know who to contact.
Repayment is impossible without a job, and finding a job at the age of 50 is not an easy task.
Appreciate your advice.
Thanks

Am I required to replace an old fridge owned by the landlord if it can't be repaired? 0
Hello,
My rental here in Dubai comes with a fridge and cooker. I believe these to be at least 10 years old. The fridge has now stopped working and requires a part to be replaced.
This comes at a cost of 540 AED, which is over the agreed amount that I am responsible for. My Ejari comes with an extra addendum provided by the landlord, which states:
1. The landlord is responsible for major maintenance of the apartment (namely structural, electrical, and plumbing) exceeding 500 AED + 5% VAT. The tenant is responsible for any minor maintenance as needed as a result of wear and tear.
2. The property is leased with the following assets (fridge and cooker) owned by the landlord in working condition and should be returned in the same condition. Any maintenance required is the tenant’s responsibility.
My question is:
If I'm unable to fix this fridge, do I have to provide a new one? The company looking to repair the fridge is having an issue finding the part needed, as it is old.
