Can a lawyer with an expired professional license still represent me in court?

Hello,

I have given a POA to a lawyer to fight my case, but now I got to know his professional license expired 20 days ago.

Is it allowed for him to represent me in court with an expired license?

Hello,

According to Article 4 of the UAE Federal Law No. 23 of 1991 on the Regulation of the Legal Profession, a lawyer must have a valid professional license in order to practice law in the UAE. Therefore, if your lawyer's professional license has expired, he may not be allowed to represent you in court.

It is important to note that the UAE has strict regulations for lawyers and their licenses, and practicing law without a valid license is considered a violation of the law. If your lawyer is found to be practicing law with an expired license, they may face penalties, and their actions may be considered invalid.

In this situation, it is best to consult with your lawyer and ask for proof of his current professional license. If his license has indeed expired, you may need to find a new lawyer to represent you in court.

It is important to ensure that your lawyer is in compliance with all legal requirements in order to avoid any potential issues with your case.

Hello,

It is generally not allowed for a lawyer to represent you in court with an expired professional license in the UAE.

The Regulation clearly states that only lawyers duly licensed and whose names are recorded in the Roll of Practicing Lawyers shall practice the legal profession or represent parties in courts.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out!

If the lawyer’s professional license has expired, he is not legally allowed to represent you in court until the license is renewed. Representation by an unlicensed lawyer may put your case at risk or be considered invalid by the court.

We recommend that you verify the lawyer’s current license status with the relevant legal authority and, if needed, revoke the POA and assign your case to a licensed and active legal representative immediately.

In the UAE, a lawyer whose professional license has expired is not allowed to represent clients or provide legal services until the license is renewed.

Since your lawyer’s license expired 20 days ago, they are currently unauthorized to act on your behalf in court, which could affect the validity of any legal actions taken during this time.

It’s important to verify the license status with the relevant authority and consider appointing a licensed lawyer to protect your legal interests and ensure compliance with UAE laws.

Hello,

A lawyer with an expired professional license is not allowed to represent you in court. Practicing without a valid license is against UAE regulations and could affect your case.

I recommend confirming your lawyer’s license status immediately. If it has expired, you should ask them to renew it or consider appointing another licensed lawyer to protect your interests.

If you need help verifying the license or finding new legal representation, please let me know. I’m here to assist you.

No, a lawyer cannot represent you in court with an expired license. You should consider consulting with another licensed attorney or seeking guidance from the relevant bar association or court on how to proceed with your case.
