Q: Does an employee have to sign any paper with the employer to initiate his visa cancellation after the resignation and before last working day?
My employer is asking me to sign a form named "United Arab Emirates Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation Electronic Work Permit Cancellation", where all my details are printed and written, "I certify that I have received all my dues up to date... Employee Signature".
My notice ends on Aug 29th and they are yet to pay end of service...etc., and this is an unlimited contract and my employer is asking me to sign this paper saying this should be signed to initiate visa cancellation.
But I am uncertain to sign as I haven't received my pay yet but the paper says so.
Please suggest

Cancellation of visa upon resignation and getting EOSB
7
Q: Good evening Sir,
I am H., working as Asst. Manager under an unlimited contract, and now I completed 4 years and 10 months at this company.
I have resigned from the job effective 01.06.2019, and on a 30 days notice period. My boss instructed me to withdraw my resignation letter and give an apology letter, but I refused politely.
Last week, they accepted my resignation and they instructed me to vacate the accommodation. On 16.06.2019, I vacated my company accommodation and handed over all the things that belong to my company.
The facility of the motor car was revoked on May 30. My HR manager said (verbally) you can stop your duty, but he is not ready to send an official email.
Still, every day I am going to the office by taxi. Now, they are forcing me to sign the cancellation paper. I asked about my gratuity but the HR manager is saying you have to sign cancellation paper letter we will process your gratuity.
Sir, I am kindly requesting you to advise me on the procedure of how I can solve this issue in a professional way.

What to do if the employer cannot pay your EOSB upon the visa cancellation
36
Q: I submitted my resignation and served my one-month notice. My company asked me to sign the cancellation papers, however, mentioned that they cannot pay End of Service Benefits now and that they will pay in future.
As I am going back to my country permanently, what is the best way to get my due payments? I heard raising a complaint and the due procedure take months to settle.

Resigning and claiming labour dues after signing the cancellation paper
2
Q: Hi
I need your advice, please.
I resigned and completed my notice period upon transferring my visa from DMCC to TECOM. My employer sent the end of service settlement along with my last salary and leave benefit.
Now, to complete the process, they need me to sign that I have received the amount which I didn't. My previous employer is saying they don't have money right now and to sign then they will pay once available.
My question here is that if I sign, do I lose my right to claim the money if they didn't pay?
If yes, what kind of legal document or cheque can I ask them to provide prior signing? I'm hugely affected as I can't transfer the visa.
I have asked DMCC and they said I can file a complaint for them to try to settle but I'm sure my previous employer will come and say no money without solid commitment to pay.
Then DMCC will advise going to court which might take a long time. I don't like to make problems but I need advice on what I can ask them to provide to secure my money and to transfer my visa.

Time frame for a final settlement of an end-of-service gratuity to be issued
5
Q: Hello Madam,
Good Morning!
How many days does it take for a final settlement of an end-of-service gratuity to be issued?
I am told that it may take 30-45 days. What if we close the bank account and go back to our country?

Termination and holding company assets to get labor dues and visa cancellation

1
Q: I was MD of a company, however, I was made redundant back in Jan 2019, signed a settlement agreement with my employer.
According to the settlement agreement, the employer had to cancel my visa before May 31, remove my name from the trade license and replace me with a new signatory for bank accounts.
However, due to some reason, they couldn’t replace me, so they couldn’t cancel my visa at the end of May.
After all, now in October, the employer has informed me that they are now ready to take over bank accounts to a new signatory and replace me on the trade license.
In the meantime, as a sole signatory of the company, I signed all company documents until Sept. to make sure the company operates smoothly.
But since my employer didn’t pay my annual home leave tickets and other benefits, I stopped signing company documents as of September.
All in all, I don’t want to hand over bank accounts till they pay my benefits.
If I delay the bank account handover process, will it cause any legal issues against me?

The employer refuses to give a No Objection Letter. What to do?
10
Q: Hi!
Good day!
It has been almost 4 years of working as a security guard in a Dubai-based company on a limited contract and recently I got a job offer overseas (Malta).
In order to get the visa, I need a No Objection Letter from my employer, which the employer rejected.
So, Is there any way to get NOC from my employer? Or does the MOHRE or Labour Court issue the NOC on the employer's behalf?

If someone has a case in the UAE, can they travel to another GCC country? 2
Hi.
One of my friends joined a Telegram group. They said, "We will transfer some amount to your account, and your task is to transfer this amount to another account. Once the task is completed, you will get 30 or 50 AED per task."
He completed 3 to 4 tasks, but he realized it was not good, so he stopped. After one week, when he opened his account, it was blocked, and the bank said, "We are conducting an investigation; after this, we will let you know."
After some days, he had an accident and went to his home country. He then received a call from a landline number, which was from the Abu Dhabi police station.
They said, "We have received a complaint against you; come to our investigation department." However, due to his surgery and treatment, he could not go.
After some time, his bank account was reopened, and he did not receive any further calls. I want to know, if he comes back to the UAE or goes to any other GCC country, will he face any problems?
If someone has a case in the UAE, can they travel to another GCC country?
Please advise!

Currently, we have lost contact with him and are unsure of his whereabouts. How can we check where he is or access any other legal facility?
Are there legal procedures to locate a person with an ongoing case?
What steps should we take to get more information about his status and legal position?

My husband sold the house we bought jointlyand took a cheque plus 1-year instalments from me. What can I do? 0
Hi,
I am a non-Muslim indian expatriate, residing in Dubai since 2015. The first 5 years, I was on a working visa, and after the delivery of my first baby, I left my job and became dependent on my husband.
In 2018, we bought a house together where I invested AED 2 hundred thousand from my income (I have proof in the form of a cheque). I also paid AED 3300 monthly installment for 1 year, for a personal loan taken out for the house.
But in spite of my resistance, my husband tactfully put the house in his name, so the title deed was in his name. In 2024, when my kids and I were in India for vacation, he cancelled our visas and residency. He also filed for a divorce in India.
The divorce is not yet finalised, and we are still married. Since August 2024, he hasn't let me access my house in Dubai, so I filed a case, which eventually went in my favor in January 2025.
Since I used to travel on a visit visa, I left for India and returned in March, to find out that my husband had already sold the house. The new owner is residing there.
What can I do now?

Can the employer force the housmaid to work for unlimited hours without rest? 0
Hi
I'm a nanny, and at the same time, I work as a housemaid (khadama) here in the house. I work, but as I know, the nannies and housemaids have different rights, and my employer doesn't give me rest.
My work starts at 7:30 am and then finishes at 10 pm or less. It depends on whether the baby is asleep or what time they will take on me if not yet asleep. Is this right?
Also, at the time of eating, I'm still working because the baby is with me, so I just let her sit in her chair. That's how I eat.
Please answer me. I want to know my rights.
Because if I can leave during the 6-month probation, I want to take it if the employer is this kind. I don't know.
They are also expats, but they don't follow the rules of the UAE regarding a housemaid.

My previous organization has not yet released EOSB because I contacted a client. Is this legal? 0
I recently joined a new organization in the Hamriyah Free Zone, and my previous organization has not released my end-of-service benefits.
The HR has instructed the finance team not to do so because I had contacted one of their clients.
In my DMCC contract, there is no Non-Compete clause, but the offer letter has one, and now they are not releasing the end-of-service.
Is this legal? What are my rights?
