How many days does it take for a final settlement of an end-of-service gratuity to be issued?
I am told that it may take 30-45 days. What if we close the bank account and go back to our country?

The employer shall settle the end of service benefits or any other dues to the employee upon signing the cancellation paper.
The cancellation paper confirms the receipt by the employee from the employer. However the same is not considered as concrete proof of disbursement of end of service benefits.
If you were informed by your employer that it will take 30-45 days to disburse your end of service benefits, the same may be an internal policy that does not have any legal grounds.
Further regarding your second question, please note that the said benefits or dues shall be deposited in your UAE bank account where you receive your salary or by a cheque under your name, as cash once you sign the cash voucher.
It is recommended to receive the dues before leaving the county.
