Landlord does not accept cheques or issue Ejari. Can they evict me?

Dear Sir/Madam,

After my tenancy expired, the landlord did not accept cheques and did not issue Ejari.

This is a shared apartment, and the owner of the entire building is a private landlord.

Can they evict me from the apartment?

Dear Questioner,

According to UAE law, a landlord cannot evict a tenant without a valid reason and following the proper legal procedures.

If your tenancy has expired and the landlord is not accepting cheques or issuing an Ejari, you should try to communicate with them and resolve the issue.

If the landlord still insists on evicting you, you can file a complaint with the Rental Dispute Settlement Center (RDSC) to resolve the issue.

The RDSC will review the case and make a decision based on the UAE rental laws.

It is important to note that the landlord cannot evict you without a valid reason and following the proper legal procedures.

Dear Questioner,

If the landlord is not accepting the cheque, then you can deposit it in RDC and ask for the renewal of Ejari with the landlord or raise a complaint over this in Dubai if your property is in Dubai Emirate.

If you need further clarification, please share your WhatsApp number.
