Q: I got a job offer from one UAE company but I have to pay visa fees as a security which they will return after six months. They will provide me employment offer letter and at the same time I need to pay them visa fees.
I am a bit confused that the offer letter is a legally binding document to claim in future if they will not provide me the job.
Kindly help me to solve my problem. I am on a visit visa in Dubai.

Forced to pay visa cost and terminated for another's mistake. What to do?
4
Q: Dear Sir/Madam,
I am working in a company on probation for 2 months. Due to a mistake done by the former employee who worked in my position, the employer gave me a termination letter with 30 days' notice without considering my explanation.
Also, the prior employee came to train me for these two months and his payment was deducted from my salary.
The employer asked me to pay more than 6000 AED as visa cost from this month's & next month's salary.
As per the contract letter I signed with him, there is a clause as I have to bare the cost of employment (visa related) if terminated on probation.
Kindly help on this since I have to work without payment till my last working day even though it is not a voluntary resignation but an unfair termination.

Will I have to pay training costs if I resign from my job in the UAE?

31
Q: Hello,
I am planning to resign from my job because I can no longer take the pressure I am getting every day. I am only 4 months into the company. It is a limited contract.
This is what bothers me: in the contract I signed, it says that I have to pay the training cost of 5000 AED if I resign before 1 year.
- Will I pay that amount if I resign during probation or even after 6 months?
- If I resign after 6 months, will I still have to pay the full amount or half?
Can someone help me with my questions, please?

Can I leave my job during probation period without paying training charges?

5
Q: Dear Sir/Madam,
What if I resign from the company during my probation period?
My contract, Article 4, mentions that I have to pay 6,000 AED in training charges if I leave within one year of the contract.
My offer letter states that training charges will be compensated, if incurred.
Will I be able to leave the company, or can they file a case against me?

Do I have to pay my company for resigning early?

2
Q: Hello,
I resigned from my company after 9 months.
I signed a company letterhead agreement stating that I would pay for visa and other expenses if I resigned before the end of my contract.
However, there is nothing in my Ministry of Labor contract that says I have to pay anything. The company has already deducted 800 AED for visa expenses from my salary and is now demanding an additional 20,000 AED.
Should I pay them? Is there any legal value to a company letterhead agreement?

Is my employer's withholding of my settlement a breach of contract?

2
Q: Hello Everyone,
I was working with a private company in Dubai under a limited contract. I resigned after completing 1 year and served 30 days' notice period (I completed probation also).
My total settlement amount was around 7300 AED. But the employer only gave me 3000 AED. He is holding back around 4300 AED as a visa and Emirates ID charge.
My last day with the company was last week. I have requested to release this 4300 AED, but the employer refuses to do the same.
Is this a breach of contract as the employer is saying the same and holding my settlement amount?
If I complain to the ministry, will I get this pending amount or will the ministry support the employer?
Please help me with your thoughts on this.

View allCan I petition for immediate eviction due to tenant violations and refusal to vacate after notice? 0
Dear Lawyers,
I have a question regarding an immediate eviction petition to the Urgent Judge. The tenant did not return the apartment on 26 January 2025, despite a 12-month legal notice that ended on 25 January 2025.
The tenant rejected all gas and fire prevention maintenance for 12 months. Al-Fanar Gas submitted a report with the tenant's signature and refusal after the tenant broke the gas detector.
The apartment was sold, and the new owner gave the tenant 90 days' notice. The tenant refused to show the new owner the apartment and ran away, according to building management.
The tenant ignored the 12-month legal notice, did not return the apartment, broke the gas detector, and refused gas and fire detection system maintenance.
The deal will be voided if the new owner cannot enter the property promptly. Can I petition the Urgent Matters Judge for quick eviction based on the tenant's violations?

A contractor did waterproofing on my roof but water leaked and made damages. What can I do? 0
A contractor recently did waterproofing on my townhouse roof and confirmed a warranty of 5 years (on WhatsApp). The payment receipt and invoice are available.
In 4 months, water leaks from the roof damaged the false ceiling inside the house. When contacted, he avoids calls and delays by making some excuses.

How can I exit a partnership linked to an expired license and accumulating fines? 0
Good Day!
I am a partner in a trading license with two other individuals. Both of them were managing the business together as a cash-based operation without a bank account, while I was working elsewhere as an employee.
Now, one of the partners has passed away, and his parents are in conflict with the remaining partner, claiming he owes them money. However, the surviving partner insists that no money is owed and that everything is settled.
The license has now expired and cannot be renewed because the deceased partner’s family is not cooperating, leading to fines due to the inability to renew it.
Additionally, the remaining partner continues to conduct the same business, occasionally purchasing items under the company name.
As I am a low-salaried individual and cannot afford court fees, is there a way to remove myself from this situation, or are there any authorities who can assist me in this matter?
I am willing to help and provide whatever is required as evidence in this case.
Please advise!

Can I finalize our divorce in the UAE while my wife is in her country? 0
Hello,
My wife and I are from two different countries (Egypt and Tunisia), and we both reside in the UAE. She recently traveled back to Tunisia, and while her residency in the UAE is still active, we are unsure if she will return.
We have agreed to divorce and do not have children. How should we proceed with the divorce process?
Does she need to be in the UAE to complete it, or can the process be handled remotely?

Can I close my LLC company and pay off all my debts and liabilities if the the license is expired? 0
Good Morning,
I want to close my company (an LLC located in Sharjah) and leave. I have personal and company liabilities which I plan to settle before I leave.
My company license ended in December 2024. Can I pay off personal debts and company liabilities without renewing the company license (including renewal of tenancy contract) in the next 2 to 3 months?
I want to avoid license renewal fees and tenancy contract associated costs since I am anyways planning to leave. Is that possible?
If so, how much time do I have?
Thanks for your advice.

Mold in apartment due to construction fault: Can I get compensation? 0
Hi everyone,
I rent an apartment. After two days in the apartment, water started leaking from the ceiling.
It turned out to be a fault in the building's construction, which caused condensation in the false ceilings. When the panels were demolished, it was found that they were all full of mold.
The building manager has started work, but the apartment is no longer habitable.
Should the landlord compensate me for the lack of peaceful enjoyment of the property?

New owner in Dubai with no Ejari and previous tenant: What are his rights? 0
Dear Sir/Madam,
I recently purchased a studio flat in Dubai that was previously tenanted under a Tenancy Contract from November 2022 to November 2023.
However, there is no registered Ejari to establish a tenant-landlord relationship in the Dubai Government record.
The previous landlord had given the tenant a year's notice to vacate the flat, which was given six months ago. Now that I have purchased the flat, I have asked the tenant to replace the cheques, but she has refused to cooperate.
Can you please advise me on whether I am obligated to continue the Tenancy Agreement signed by the previous owner, given the absence of an Ejari?
Alternatively, when can I tell her to vacate the flat, or do I have to wait until November 2023?
Secondly, I would like to know if I need to serve the tenant with an eviction notice again to vacate the flat. If so, for how long is the remaining period valid, or do I need to issue a new eviction notice of one year?
I would appreciate your prompt response.
Many thanks!
Kind Regards,
