My brother got arrested in some drug case and transferred to Abu Dhabi. How to get him out?
Q: My brother got arrested in some drug case. It`s almost 2 months. Through his case number, we have searched online and found two charges on him but there is no data on the final charge. His case papers are transferred to Abu Dhabi. Firstly, he was in Alkhwaneej police station and five days ago, he was transferred to a new jail without any judgment. What should we do now because he was transferred without any judgment? How much time will it take in the Abu Dhabi investigation? What will be the punishment and how much time it`ll take? Is bail possible?

My husband has an outstanding loan and credit card from a bank. How to settle them?
Q: Hi My husband has a loan and credit card from a bank, which he was always paying on time. I left my job and we got financial commitments, due to which we couldn`t make the payment in the past 2 -3 months. We contacted the remediation department but they were not ready to help us. His outstanding loan is 72000 and his credit card is 22,500 overdue. He has noticed the account is showing -200,000 all of a sudden. What can that be? I wanna know as he is unable to pay the full outstanding payment of both the loan and credit card. He has informed the bank that he can contribute towards the bank just 1500 (both loan and cc). What would the next step of the bank be and is there any way we can solve it? Thanks2023/05/25

المطالبة بمهلة لإعادة هيكلة القرض بعد فقد العمل
س: السلام عليكم، لدي قرض بأحد البنوك في الدولة منذ أكثر من 7 سنوات. تعسرت في دفع الأقساط لمدة 5 أشهر بسبب إنهاء خدماتي من الشركة التي كنت أعمل بها. تقدم البنك بدعوى في التنفيذ ومُنعت من السفر اليوم، ولكن لم يتصل بي أحد من محكمة دبي. ما المطلوب جزاكم الله خيرًا؟ وهل يمكن أن أطلب من قاضي التنفيذ إعطائي مهلة لإعادة هيكلة القرض؟

Q: We are non-Muslims with Abu Dhabi visas and we live in Dubai. We need to do a Will. Is it better to do the Will in Abu Dhabi or Dubai? We have no property in the UAE, the Will is only needed in respect of bank accounts, guardianship, and end-of-service benefits. What are the approx costs to do it using a lawyer?

I left the UAE with an unpaid loan and credit cards. Can I settle them and come back?
Q: I obtained a loan and also used credit cards from three different banks before leaving Dubai, UAE. The total amount is AED 200,000/-. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to make timely repayments and find myself in a challenging financial situation. However, I am now determined to fulfil my financial obligations and settle the outstanding loan amount. As I am still actively seeking employment, I am unable to pay the full amount in one lump sum. I have approached the bank with a proposal to repay the loan in manageable instalments. While they have offered a discount, they insist on the full payment rather than accepting my proposed repayment plan. I kindly request your guidance on the best course of action in this situation. Is there a legal avenue or negotiation strategy that I can pursue to secure a mutually beneficial arrangement with the bank? I genuinely intend to honour my commitment and repay the loan but require some flexibility considering my current financial circumstances.2023/05/25

How can I file a civil case against a driver who caused black points against my car?
Q: I have a problem with a driver who took my car whilst I was out of the country and imposed many fines and black points and caused an accident. He also stole money from my maid that we had left for her whilst we were out of the country. Originally, he admitted to the crimes and went to the traffic department with my husband and said to transfer the points - but they could not due to his license expiry. He has now renewed his license but refused to take responsibility and says he can`t afford to pay. We now can not re-register the car and he is refusing to take the black points and pay the fines. We have been advised by the police and Dubai Courts to open a civil case against him. He has 8 black points on his license, and he has now impounded my car with 23 black points. The fines amount to AED 11200 and stole a further AED 2150. Can you please advise me of the process and the cost I would incur if I was to open a civil case against him?2023/05/25

Getting a job in Dubai after recovering from tuberculosis
Q: Hello all, My sister is looking to move to Dubai for a job, but she had tuberculosis 8 years ago. Though she has recovered 100 percent, tuberculosis still leaves scars on the chest, and this is the case with my sister. Whenever a chest x-ray is done, her x-ray shows only the scars and lesions. We are concerned if she will be able to secure a job in Dubai or be permitted to work here. Are there any special requirements that she should be aware of? Is there anything that needs to be done in order to ensure that she can move to Dubai and work? We would be grateful for any advice that can be provided in this regard. Thank you!

A tenant is refusing to vacate commercial property in Dubai - what can I do?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I purchased a commercial property office in Al Barsha Heights Dubai in May 2023. It was rented and an eviction notice was issued on December 19, 2023. The tenancy contract/Ejari expired on April 24, 2023. The tenant agreed and signed in the addendum terms that he would send a written request to the owner to renew the contract 45 days before the expiry date and that he would pay the rent as per the RERA review. However, he has not sent any official email to the previous owner or the new owner to renew his contract/Ejari. One month has passed since then. Meanwhile, the previous owner has sent emails to the tenant from her registered email stating that she will not renew the tenancy contract after it expires on April 24, 2023, and that he should vacate the office on the expiry date. She also informed the tenant that the office has been sold. The tenant is now living in the office without renewing the contract and is saying that he can live there until December 18, 2023, as per the eviction notice. In this situation, what action can I take as the new owner?2023/05/24
