Will I get a labor ban if I cancel my newly issued freelance visa to take a job offer?
Q: Good day, I recently took a freelance visa (2 years) from a Business Center in Dubai approximately 2 months back. Now I got a job offer letter in Dubai Production City (Freezone). The company is saying me to cancel the freelance visa as they will provide a company visa for me. Will I get a labor ban if I cancel now because I took the visa 2 months ago?

How to sue a subcontractor for breach of trust and conflict of interest?
Q: Greetings, We have issued a Letter of Purchase Order (LPO) to our subcontractor for a project. The payment from the main contractor has been delayed. To speed up the process, we have asked the main contractor to pay the subcontractor on our behalf through a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Since the LPO is from our company, the subcontractor has asked us to give a security cheque in case the payment is further delayed. We have issued the cheque along with a letter stating that they have to return the cheque upon receiving the cheque from the main contractor. The guarantee cheque was used after 3 months even after getting the payment from the main contractor. The subcontractor has started communicating with the main contractor without keeping us in the loop. Due to cash flow problems, we were supposed to leave the project. Can I approach the court asking for the same/twice the amount as compensation due to a breach of trust and a similar amount as a conflict of interest?

Can a bank threaten to file a police case for non-payment of a loan?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I failed to pay a credit card loan to a bank. They are threatening to file a police case against me. They keep calling my manager at my company. Can you tell me what will happen if they do file a case against me? I received a statement from the bank with CID on it. Does this mean I have a case now? And does it mean I can`t travel? Please advise!

We had an accident. Can I claim the treatment costs paid to hospital from the insurance?
Q: My family and I had an accident. The incident occurred the very next day of their arrival in the UAE on a residence entry permit and their visa//health insurance was still in process. With gods grace, everyone was discharged from the hospital on the 3rd day after many tests and keeping us under observation. We were slapped with a hefty bill as my family was not holding any health insurance. What are the chances that I could claim the medical expenses through the vehicle insurance, as it covers co-passengers as well?

Company's unpaid rent led to a travel ban on a former manager. What to do?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I was a manager in my previous company, and my name was on the trade license. I was not aware that my employer/company had not paid the shop rent of 117,000 AED. I finished my contract with them on February 18, 2023, and started a new job on March 18, 2023. Last week, I was at the airport to travel when I was stopped and told that I had a travel ban from the Dubai Land Department. Can anyone help me with how I can clear my name? I do not know what is going on, how it happened, or what I need to do to clear my name. I am no longer part of that company.2023/05/29

What to do if employer refuses to cancel visa and demands recruitment fee?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I had an employment contract for 3 years, but I worked for only 6 months and then resigned. The employer refused to cancel my visa and asked me to pay the recruitment fee of 5,700 AED, which was to be paid by me and my new employer. I don`t have the money to pay, and my new employer is not willing to pay for me. What can I do now? I have already complained to the UAE Labour.

I lost my job and left the UAE where I can no longer pay my bank loan. Can I come back?
Q: I have a bank loan and due to the loss of my job, I was unable to pay and currently out of the UAE. I have a few questions if someone please would be kind enough to guide me on them: "The bank has not filed the case yet". 1. The bank is asking me to pay the minimum 10% of the outstanding, I wish to know if this is a legal requirement or if I can pay any amount as a down payment in court. 2. Since has not filed the case my rating is bad on AECB, so will the police arrest me based on my rating, or does the case has to be filed first? 3. If I am arrested, will I be presented before the judge and can I offer to start paying installments or do I have to pay the downpayment? Kindly, do guide me on these and if I can get a good attorney so that I can hire the attorney to help me settle things with the bank.2023/05/28

What does the RDC consider in rent increase disputes, RERA Index or Land Department Valuation?
Q: Hi, My rent renewal is due at the end of May. My landlord wants to increase my rent by 35% while the RERA Index is stating a 0% increase because I am within the average rental rate. The land-lord`s management keeps responding back to me with the "valuation" report for an apartment that is vacant, not the apartment I am living in. How to evict the tenant after winning the case in RDC?
Q: I have served my tenant a legal notice and won the cases in the first instance and appeal in Dubai`s RDC court. I requested enforcement and the tenant has requested reconsideration just 3 days before the eviction date. The judge accepted to give the tenant an additional one more month to vacate, exactly on the eviction day. I am afraid that this is not the end of the process as the tenant is paying very low rent and wants to stay in the property as long as possible by making the process as long as possible. Can I leave the UAE after applying for residency and return later?
Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I am applying to transfer my US immigration case to the UAE and I am working on getting an UAE work permit. I understand that applying for residency comes with it. My question is, when I enter the UAE on a work permit, how long do I have to live in the UAE? Do I have to stay until I receive the printed residency card? Or do I have to stay until I get my interview letter and/or until I do the interview? Could I leave after the residency card has been applied for (but not received) and come back for the interview?
