How do I handle a landlord’s case over an unfair rent increase and security deposit?
Q: Hello, My landlord and I are having a problem with a rent increase. The landlord gave me a rent increase notice 90 days ago, which was higher than the rental index, and he demanded a 10% extra security deposit which I rejected. He also tried to force me to leave the house, but I have no proof of this. I went to the RDC office and filed a complaint, after which I received a letter from the RDC stating that my rent would remain the same. However, the landlord rejected the application and said I could only renew the lease with a 10% increase, a 10% security deposit, and four cheques, which I also rejected. Now, he has filed a case against me, and the hearing is in February. Kindly advise me!

What can I do if the judge refused to allow bail in an appeal of fraud case?
Q: In the hearing recently, the judge said "The appellants appeared in person - remote trial and did not surrender themselves for execution for their presence in the courtroom" on the next hearing date. He did not give Kafala (bail) while I appeared online. The court is the Appeal Court of Ajman. The last judgment is 2 years jail sentence and deportation with a big fine for a fraud case. Q: Hi, I am a driver. One of my friends asked me to drive a rental car. I picked up a passenger from the airport, but the RTA caught me with the passenger and fined me 5000 AED. They also impounded the car for 14 days. Now, the rental company has filed a case against me and the person who rented the car. The person who rented the car is currently out of the country. Can my employer force me to serve an extra month after my resignation?
Q: Hello, I am writing to clarify the situation regarding my resignation. I officially resigned on December 31st, 2024, and according to my understanding and the initial agreement, my notice period was to end on January 31st, 2025. However, my contract was amended a few months ago to reflect a two-month notice period. I would like to emphasize that I have not signed this amendment, and the employer is blaming me for not signing the amended contract and will take action against me. Please let me know how you would like to proceed, as I am eager to ensure a smooth transition and complete all required handover tasks within the original notice period. I have already completed my notice period, but the employer is still forcing me to serve one more month, which I cannot do as I have another company to join on February 14th. I can`t afford to lose this opportunity. I am currently working in the aviation industry in Sharjah, and my visa is a freezone visa. Your prompt response will be highly appreciated.

The ladder to the roof of the row of townhouses is on my property. Am I obligated to give access to the ladder?
Q: I live in an end townhouse I own in Dubai. The only ladder to the roof of the row of townhouses is on my property and there is no way of getting to the ladder without going onto my property. This has led to lots of people entering my yard, opening the access to the ladder, and heading to the roof. The ladder is right next to my front door, and while it is in use it blocks the path to my door. No one has asked me if they can do this. Am I required to give access to the ladder? There is no clause in my title deed that shows it as an easement. Can I deny them access? If someone falls while using the ladder, am I liable for damages?+3
