Filing a civil case to recover the amount of a bounced cheque
Q: Hello, I received a company cheque from an individual who owed me money (between AED 10,000 & 20,000). The cheque bounced and I wish to file a civil case. A criminal case has already been registered. Can anyone advise me about the steps to register a civil case? Also, can someone highlight what happens in court during a civil proceeding? Thanks

Trading unpaid invoices for provided services in the UAE
Q: We have been working for a Dubai based company since 2007. Over the years we have sent many invoices and the company has paid the invoices, a lot of times too late but paid. We kept on doing services for this company since we had a good private relationship. The debts kept building up and are today 1.5 million USD. The company signed an "Acknowledgement of Debt Agreement" and accepted that they owe us the money. The company`s CPA sent us several Balance Confirmation letters and asked us to confirm the debts. We signed and returned. They have not paid anything since 2015. We do have some signed invoices, signed order of confirmations in regards to the service we supplied and many emails that confirm that we discussed the debts. We think we have a strong case but we consider to sell the claim. Is it legal to trade claims in the UAE? How do you see our case?Sep 24, 2019

Non-payment of end of service benefit by ex-employer
Q: Non-payment of end-of-service benefits. My husband left his company last mid-May 2019 and is now currently working at a new company (both companies are from Dubai). Up to this date, he still has not received his last pay & gratuity payment from the company he left in which he worked there for almost 5 years. Upon leaving the company also, he did not sign any letter on receipt of the final settlement. We have been constantly following up on when the last payment & gratuity will be settled. But the HR just keeps on saying to us that they are "waiting for funds, waiting for client payment...". This keeps going on for the past 4 months and not a single Dirham has been paid to my husband. We are just waiting in vain, & there is this worry that he won`t ever receive his end of service benefits because of these reasons.
