Dear Inquirer,

If you have been a victim of odometer tampering, false ownership details, or undisclosed flood damage, you can file a fraud complaint through the relevant UAE authorities. The process generally involves:

Submitting a Complaint – Report the issue to the Dubai Police, RTA (for vehicle-related fraud), or the Department of Economic Development (DED).

Providing Evidence – Gather documents such as the sales agreement, inspection reports, and communication records.

Legal Action – Depending on the case, a civil or criminal complaint may be necessary to claim compensation.

A technical report must be prepared on the vehicle's condition, proving the fraud, and then a lawsuit must be filed to recover the amount and obtain compensation.

The police is not competent in this. The best thing is to file a civil case to recover the amount and claim compensation.

Hello,

In the UAE, fraud actions like odometer tampering, providing false ownership details, and selling flood-damaged vehicles are illegal and should be reported to the police.

Visit the nearest police station in the emirate where the fraud occurred (or where you purchased the vehicle) and file a complaint.

You can also report the issue online in some cases, depending on the police force. Present all the evidence you have gathered regarding the fraud.

In addition to the police, you can file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Department in the UAE.

This department operates under the Ministry of Economy and handles issues related to fraud in sales and purchases, including vehicles.
