Opening inheritance case in the court of personal status
Madam,
I work for a Dubai company. My friend/colleague expired in August 2018 while he was on duty in Dubai.
What is the procedure for claiming the end of service benefits? His wife already got the Power of Attorney from India, attested by the Indian embassy.
Kindly help to know the procedures to claim. She is planning to come to Dubai next month for processing this.
Thanks & Regards

Dear Questioner,
I am sorry for your loss. May the soul rest in peace.
From the above description, I understand that the family of the deceased wants to claim the end of service benefits and other assets [if any] which belong to the deceased in the UAE.
I assume the deceased has not registered a WILL in any of the registries in the UAE. In the absence of WILL, the family will have to open an inheritance case in the Personal Status Court of Dubai.
Upon the submission of a valid PoA, passport copies of the deceased and of the family [along with visa page of the deceased] and a death certificate, the Court will issue a Legal Heir Certificate.
You also will have to present two male witnesses to promise before the Court with regard to the relationship of the deceased with the applicants of Legal Heir Certificate.
After attaining the certificate, we will have to request the Court to transfer the end of service benefits to the family.
Please feel free to contact me if you need any further assistance or guidance in this matter.
Thank you.
Regards,
