Q: I unintentionally left the UAE in 2016 due a to family emergency with an unpaid credit card and a few loans.
Since I have got confirmed by a Dubai based colleague that I have a police case already for bounced cheques cases. How do I go about the settlement from outside the UAE?
I have heard of the fines imposed as well as bounced cheque criminal case has been demoted to a minor misdemeanour in Dubai.
Involved banks are ADCB (loan of 120k), FGB (credit card - 70k), ENBD (credit card - 20k), HSBC (credit card - 13k) and CITIBANK (loan of 31k).
Thank you for your help. Please advise on the action that I can take to settle my issue without going to Dubai, UAE.

Settlement of a bank loan and lifting travel ban and cases
8
Q: I have a police case for a bounced cheque last year March 17. It was against a loan which I drew but later I changed my job.
I left the UAE and came back, but before I can do something the bank felt insecurity and immediately they submitted my security cheque to the police station and put a case on me.
The same day, I paid the fine and came out. Later, I joined a new company and provided the necessary documents and new security cheque.
My account was then regularised (After resigning from the previous company my account was frozen) and since then everything is fine. Now, I want to settle my loan in full. I already mobilised funds needed.
I want to know asap if I settle the loan in full, how the travel ban or police case will be removed? Will the bank do everything and give me a clearance letter?

Is it necessary to get the letter of clearance from a bank notarized as a proof for the future?

1
Q: I am a UK-based citizen aiming to negotiate a settlement on a UAE liability with a large bank.
Am I correct in assuming the letter of clearance from the bank once the debt is paid will need to be attested by a UAE notary to stand up to scrutiny from authorities if I am ever detained in the future due to a police case related to this matter?

How to settle with a bank after the issuance of an absentia judgment?

2
Q: Dear sir/madam,
I have a personal bank loan from a bank in Dubai and I paid for almost 3 years properly. After that, my income of salary is now very less. I stopped my installment.
The bank first filed a criminal case and I paid the court fine. Now they have given a civil case and the court made execution. It is an absentia judgment. Now I have a travel ban and an arrest warrant they have given for 505000 AED but my actual balance (without interest ) is only 220000.
How can I settle with the bank and how much they will accept to settle?
Please advise!
Thanks!

A bank refuses to provide clearance certificate due to unpaid hidden charges

2
Q: Hi,
I had a debt with a bank. The last year 2022, I completed all the payments, and my bank account statement shows zero.
Finally, I approached both the bank and the collection department for the clearance paper, but I was told I still owe them money (for late payment, SMS fees, maintenance fees, etc.) which seems to be hidden charges of about 10,000 AED which is not reflected in my bank statement.
This is not fair. Kindly provide me a solution on how to get the clearance paper without paying this amount.

Bank filed a civil case over a loan: Better to settle with the bank or in court? 0
Good day, Sir,
I have received a message from the Dubai Court stating that a bank has filed a civil case against me. The loan has been pending since February 2019.
I cleared the cheque bounce case earlier with a court fine in 2019. I am looking forward to a minimum settlement plan with the bank. The outstanding amount was around 70,000 AED, and now the message is for 115,000 AED.
What will be the best way for me to proceed: approaching the bank or dealing with it in court?
Best regards,

Is it legal for my employer to withhold my salary until I leave the country or change status? 0
Hello,
I have given my notice, and my last day is July 24, but the employer is refusing to pay my salary; even the salary for June. Is this even legal?
He claims I'll get everything at once, which is after leaving the country or changing status.

Demanding that an employee pay for visa charges a year after resigning 0
Dear Lawyers,
I worked at a bakeshop here in Dubai. I resigned exactly one year ago. Now they want me to pay for visa charges, as stated in the offer letter.
If I cannot pay for the charges, my employer will claim financial loss due to the damages, estimated to be at least 7,000 AED.
What should I do about this? My monthly salary is only 2,800 AED.
