Is it necessary to get the letter of clearance from a bank notarized as a proof for the future?

I am a UK-based citizen aiming to negotiate a settlement on a UAE liability with a large bank.

Am I correct in assuming the letter of clearance from the bank once the debt is paid will need to be attested by a UAE notary to stand up to scrutiny from authorities if I am ever detained in the future due to a police case related to this matter?

Yes, you can get attested proof to use inside the country.

For outside, the statement must be stamped by the central bank.

Thank you, Khaled,

So to clarify, a clearance letter would need to be attested or stamped by the Central Bank of UAE for it to be official?

I am also assuming only the original hard copy would be acceptable?

Yes.

Correct.

If you attested it from the central bank you can get the notary stamp or the ministry stamp.

Thank you.

Would you be able to provide me with an idea of your fees should I need to instruct you to provide expert evidence on this subject matter?

Most welcome, our charge is 1,500 $ to get the required procedure.

Hi

You don't need to get the clearance letter notarized. The clearance letter from the bank is enough to substantiate that you have cleared all debts.

Thank you Shamsa,

Is it correct that this letter will need to be an original in hard copy stamped by the UAE Central Bank to satisfy the UAE authorities of authenticity?

No that is not required, however, you can always call the Etihad bureau and ask for the clearance letter apart from your bank clearance letter.

Dear questioner

If no case is filed against you, then you do not need an attested clearance letter.

If a case is filed, then you will need to endorse the settlement document or clearance letter before the court or enforcement management.
