Q: Hi all, One of my friends has a pending credit card debt in the UAE/Dubai. She left the country around 5-6 years ago. She was contacted by an agency, approximately 1-2 years after she left, and was told that she has to make payments or else face a travel ban, a police case, etc. She asked for the details of the transactions from the agency and bank so that she could settle the payments from outside the UAE, but the bank or agency did not provide detailed statements after repeated requests. Now, after almost 4 years, my friend's family members, such as parents, cousins, and brothers, want to go on a holiday to Dubai. Will they be prevented from entering Dubai and stopped at immigration if they have the same family name or address on their travel documents? Can someone please advise, as my friend is quite worried? This Law promulgates the Federal Penal Code (Criminal Law) of the United Arab Emirates. Crimes and chastisement punishments shall be determined in accordance with the provisions of this Law and other penal codes.

The provisions of this law, promulgating UAE Civil Code, govern the civil transactions in the United Arab Emirates. The commercial transactions remain subject to the laws and regulations applicable in their regard.
