Is it possible to use the property for self or rent it after vacating the tenant to sell?

The tenant vacated the unit after getting one year's notice from the landlord to sell the property.

Can the landlord stay himself instead of selling?

The complication will arise only if the landlord re-rents the property. If he wants to re-rent, the priority should be given to the previous tenant.

The landlord is not entitled to re-rent the property; they are free afterward to sell it or not, use it personally, or leave it vacant without tenants.
