What to do if employer deducts visa cost from last salary?

Hello,

I recently resigned from my company by giving proper notice period after the completion of my probation period.

I have my own visa and they issued a temporary work permit for me. They have deducted that visa cost from my last salary. Is this legal?

If it is illegal, what can I do?

Kindly advise me!

Dear Questioner,

You can either file a complaint with MOHRE or serve a legal notice. However, I believe that filing a complaint with MOHRE is the best option.

Dear Client,

Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you in this matter.

Deducting the cost of a visa or work permit from your salary is generally not allowed under UAE labor law.

Review your employment contract for any clauses related to this deduction. Discuss the issue with your company's HR department, and if it remains unresolved, consider filing a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

For any further legal assistance, you can WhatsApp us. We have an extensive team of knowledgeable and experienced lawyers to provide the legal assistance you need.

We will definitely be happy to help you.

Thanks & Regards,

Dear user,

According to UAE Labor Law, it is not legal for the employer to make the employee pay for the visa even if they resign.

You can file a complaint through MOHRE.
