Employment clauses obliging employees to pay visa and labour expenses

Hello,

I received a job contract and I'd like to know if it is legal in terms of the UAE labour law to put such a statement in it:

"The employee will bear the visa expenses, relocation expenses and all other applicable expenses incurred by the agency during the recruitment phase, in case of leaving before completing the first year".

In case I sign such a contract, will I be legally obliged to pay visa expenses for leaving the job before completing one year period?

Thank you.

The answer is:

- No, it isn't legal to put this clause in the employment contract, since the labour law obligating the employer to bear all expenses like visa expenses, relocation expenses.

The answer is:

- No, you won't be obliged to pay these expenses, since such a clause is illegal, especially that the law provided that any clause in the employment agreement would be in conflict with the provisions of the labour law, and this particular clause shall be null and void.
