Questions & Answers
I have a villa and the tenant renting it gave me a bounced cheque. What to do?
I have a villa in Dubai and rented it over for a year.
The payment is done in 2 cheques and apparently the second cheque bounced.
What are the legal measures to be taken and how much it will cost me if I move legally?

Good day,
Hope all is well.
What you need to do now is send a legal notice for the bounced cheque. I can write you the notice and you submit it through notary public here.
Or if you are not here, you can send a power of attorney to me. If he did not pay within a week, then you do an eviction notice based on the fact he did not pay.
And if he did not evict then you raise your case through rental dispute committee.
As for how much this will cost you, for the notice drafting and sending it through notary it will cost you roughly 1500 AED.
If you reached the court or the dispute committee in that case, then they will take 4% court charges from the whole rental amount, which the tenant will pay it back when you win the case.
And for the lawyer fees, we are probably talking about 7 to 10 thousand on average to handle the whole case.
