Company's unpaid rent led to a travel ban on a former manager. What to do?
Dear Sir/Madam,
I was a manager in my previous company, and my name was on the trade license. I was not aware that my employer/company had not paid the shop rent of 117,000 AED.
I finished my contract with them on February 18, 2023, and started a new job on March 18, 2023.
Last week, I was at the airport to travel when I was stopped and told that I had a travel ban from the Dubai Land Department.
Can anyone help me with how I can clear my name?
I do not know what is going on, how it happened, or what I need to do to clear my name. I am no longer part of that company.
Dear Questioner,
You should have followed the law from the start. Resignation is not enough. The resignation must be submitted to the company's general assembly, approved, and then contacted by the Department of Economic Development to remove your name from the license.
For the rental case, if you did not sign the rental contract, and did not sign the checks, then in the court session, explain the situation and provide proof of leaving the company.
As for the company, send them a legal notice to remove your name from the license.
After that, file a compensation case against them for stopping you at the airport.
Hi sir,
Since there is a travel ban issued, some procedures can be taken to cancel the ban; the most important of which is submitting a request for mercy.
It is possible to accept or reject the request according to the case.
The application can be submitted through law firms for a fee.
