Helping with visa cancellation after overstay beyond its expiry
Good morning,
I am a partner in a free zone (RAKEZ). My visa is expired since few months.
My issue is that since the licence and office fees have not been paid due to a lack of finance, I cannot cancel my visa.
Either I have to renew my licence or to deregister the company, but both cases require a certain amount that I do not have.
Only by doing so I will be allowed to leave the country.
I heard about amnesty granting people to cancel their visa and see their fines waived.
In view of my situation, am I eligible for this measure?
I thank you in advance for your response.
Regards.
Dear questioner,
Please be informed that your inquiry has two branches.
One is your financial obligations due to your relationship as an investor with the free zone authority, and the other is your relationship with the immigration department where you are sponsored by the free zone authority itself.
For the financial problems, you should try to amicably reach a resolution with the free zone authority management by presenting your case to the head of registration to get an exception maybe to deregister the company at a lower cost or for free.
For the immigration part. You should present your case to the immigration office at the emirate which grants you the residency to the humanitarian office and explain your situation.
Maybe exceptionally they would approve to cancel your visa without getting the no objection from the free zone.
However, I would recommend you to reach out to the free zone authority itself directly. There is always a room for understanding if your story is true and if your situation is hard.
