Can the employer refuse to give the employee his passport?
Q: Good day Sir, Please, I would like to know if it is legal for an employer to hold his employee's educational certificates and passport after frequent requests by the employee to return his documents? The company is holding my salary and asking me to pay losses, what can I do?
Q: Good morning. Today the company had given the salary to my colleagues, however, mine was not given. They are holding my salary. They want me to send an email to them that I agree to pay the loss of the company. They are not mentioning how much it is, but I know that this is illegal, holding the salary of a worker. How to claim the passport back from employer to go on an urgent leave?
Q: I have been working in a restaurant as an assistant manager for a month and now I have an emergency at home so I have to go to India as soon as possible. But my passport was collected by the company at the time of joining. How can I ask for my passport? What if they refused or took too much time in replying/sending the passport? It's really difficult. How can I retrieve my passport from my previous employer after visa canellation?
Q: Good evening Sir, I resigned from my company and they cancelled my visa also. Still, they have not released my passport. I complained in MOHRE (80084) 10 days ago. Still, they did not take any action. Then I went to the police station and they told me I needed to go to Dubai court. There they told me I needed to go to Alaweer immigration. Now, what will I do? Please tell me. They did not give me the September month salary either. Now I am stuck.

Filing a case for wrongfully encashing a guarantee cheque
3 years back I had given a post-dated cheque as a guarantee to a person whom I had to pay the money. In 3 years time before the due date of the post-dated cheque, I had paid him partially by cash and cheque for which I have his signed vouchers and the PDC cheque details. He was supposed to return back my PDC on the due date and collect the balance amount that was around AED 4000. The cheque value was AED 115,000. On the due date, he demanded more money from me and when I refused, he bounced the cheque and filed a cheque bounce case. He said I gave him a cheque of a closed bank account when he asked the money back and claimed the full amount. I was arrested and had to pay the fine for the cheque bounce case. With the agreement I have with me and the payment voucher proof, can I sue him back for the false accusation? And can I claim compensation for spoiling my name and image?
