A tenant refuses to update the Ejari in the new landlord's name. What to do?
Dear sir/madam,
I bought a villa which is rented. The tenant refuses to update the Ejari in my name.
What are my rights as a landlord?

Hi questioner,
Good day!
Please be informed that if the title deed is already registered under your name, you have the full right to get the Ejari registered under your name.
We can assist you to send a proper legal notice for amendment of Ejari/eviction of the tenant.
For further assistance, please share a copy of the tenancy contract and further details via phone or email.
Best Regards,

Hi,
Pursuant to your query, the tenant has no right to decide whether the Ejari should be updated or not. You are the new legal owner; therefore, the contract and the Ejari should be amended to reflect this.
My advice would be to explain to the tenant that if you are not on the contract, then how you can be responsible for any issues that may arise for the property and the previous owner will not be interested in sorting anything out for the tenant.
If he doesn't agree even after explaining the same, you can file a complaint in the land department with supporting evidence.
