What to do if a creditor is threatening me to go to police for not paying interest?

Hello,

Last November 2021, I borrowed money AED 4000/- from a lady with gaining an interest of 20% per month payable in 3 months.

She is threatening to go to the police and report me for not paying back the remaining AED 3900 including the interest incurred.

It's better to give her her money only.

AED 4000 already returned, the pending is the incurred interest which she is chasing me with.

She has been disturbing other people by telling as well she will go to the police and make a complaint.

If she goes to the police and claimed the same scenario as you explained herewith, both of you will end up in jail for breaking Sharia law regulations for giving and receiving loans from individuals with interest.

It falls under the criminal act of the UAE under Usury rules. But if she claimed the principal amount only and never mentioned the interest part, she might oblige you to pay her all the principal.

If you did pay her any amounts before, they will be deducted from the total amount she is claiming.
