Q: Hi,
My friend owns a business in Dubai but four months ago he left to Pakistan due to an urgent matter.
Now he wants to come back here but he had some unsettled matters here and he just wants to confirm if there is any legal case or complaint registered against his name. Just to avoid any surprises on arrival in UAE like being detained at the airport etc. He wants to be prepared.

Can bounced cheques cases be resolved at the police station?
11
Q: I got a call from Jebel Ali police station as I have a bounced cheque there for 60k with FGB and they want me to go there this morning.
I have been told there is a new policy that allows bounced cheques cases to be resolved at the police station. When the police officer called me he assured me that it can be resolved there within the day.
Is that true? What will happen when I go there?

False accusation of theft
12
Q: Hi,
My business partner has on numerous occasions falsely accused me of theft of company property. These accusations were made by email and in a legal notice from his lawyers, and I have proof of all communication as well as my innocence. As well as that all of his accusations are without any proof whatsoever.
There is already an ongoing criminal case between myself and him as he physically attacked me a few weeks ago.
I want to know what I can do to stop him from constantly sending me emails accusing me of theft and threatening me. Can I take out a case against him for false accusations?
Thanks

Can I claim compensation if I've been falsely accused of a crime?

Q: There was a criminal complaint made against me and my husband and both of our passports were held by the public prosecution. After 8 months of investigations, the public prosecution has now only charged my husband and has released my passport.
Can I open a case against the complainant for the harassment that I faced for 8 long months and mental trauma that I went through?
My request for releasing my passport by substituting someone else's was also rejected 4 times without giving any reason within this period and I could not travel even though my child and my mom were unwell.

Appeal for reducing the punishment of a theft crime from jail to fine
5
Q: A judgement issued today in a criminal case for stealing has resulted in a jail term of three months.
An appeal application hearing has been made, in order to turn the jail term into a fine.
The appeal date has been set for January 2018, and we were informed that we can make an application to have the appeal heard earlier, is this possible?
We would like to convert and pay the fine as soon as possible, in order for the subject to be closed and the accused to have his passport back.

Acting against a case of robbery and ban of entry to the UAE

0
Q: I'm on my husband's permanent visa.
Due to my delivery, I came to India in September 2017, and now I'm finding myself on the blacklist because of some minor robbery case.
It is a case in which I'm not involved, as it is of my very close relative.
My question is, how can I enter the UAE because it's a matter of my self-respect and family. I want to fight against it.
Through which procedure can I enter Dubai in this case, as my husband is already there in Dubai?
As the case is our family matter, my question is how to come and fight back?

In a criminal proceeding, the standard of proof to uphold a conviction is beyond a reasonable doubt. The prosecution has the duty of establishing the defendant's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt in a criminal proceeding. This implies that the prosecution has to persuade the court that the evidence used in the trial cannot lead to any other plausible conclusion.

How to guarantee my right in accrued leave days or payment 0
Dear Sir,
My contract is a fulltime employee for a company in the UAE, and my leave entitlement state 10 weeks work and 2 weeks off.
However, due to the COVID-19, I have been unable to take that leave and have accrued two months leave or 61 days with four flight tickets.
My question is, can my company legally cancel those accrued days at the start of the new year or would they have to pay me for those days?

How to guarantee labour rights before signing the cancellation paper 0
Good morning All,
I was terminated by my company in March 2020 for not signing the unpaid leave document given to me. I was terminated on 23rd March 2020.
Once termination letter was signed, ever since then, I have been chasing my ex-company for releasing the final settlement and each time they come up with a different plan.
The last option they gave was to sign an agreement with them for 6 months plan but are not giving me any guarantee cheques and insist that I sign the cancellation papers. I want to simply take my money and leave the UAE.
They have also directed me to their lawyers now who insist that any agreement signed with the company is not required to be notarized by Dubai Courts and the company is not legally bound to give me any cheques as a guarantee.
The company that I worked for is located in Dubai and is a private organisation.

Following up on a labor case after traveling to the home country 0
After working for my employer for nearly two years on an unlimited contract as a COO of a restaurant company, my employer owes me approx 193000, not including notice period.
I have filed a case with the MOHRE. They have tried to contact the employer who has ignored the calls and is also ignoring me.
I know that I will have to escalate the complaint but, based on experience with the way the employer treats past employees and how he ignores suppliers and landlords, it is fair to assume that he will ignore this as well.
I have little options and I have to leave the country as the apartment rent paid by the company expires mid-July. If I leave, can I maintain the complaint, and what is the likelihood of getting the money owed in this scenario when I travel back to the UK?
