I received a legal notice from my creditor. How can I make a settlement to pay?

0
Q: I received a legal notice as I owed money to a friend. During corona, and for the last 2 years, I don't have a stable job, not receiving a salary on time. I told my friend that I cannot commit to that time.
However, recently in the last 2 months, I got a job and I explicitly told her to allow me to start next month. I replied to the legal firm confirming I received the notice and also send them proof that I don't have the capability of paying that on time.
I am in the right way of responding to the legal firm and sending all proof of my income. I even have open communication with her. I never blocked her and I have the intention to pay. I should have left the UAE and disappeared.
I requested for amicable settlement as they requested to pay back the money (AED 25K) in 5 days, that's the reason I explained and attached a financial statement to prove that I am not receiving a fixed but a late salary from my previous company.
Seeking your advice.

I took a loan from a friend and paid him in cash. He filed a police complaint for the money. What to do?

1
Q: I took a friendly loan amounting to 3000 from my friend 3 years back, which I paid back a few days ago in cash as he was a friend.
Now, he is in desperate need of money and wants me to sell data to which I said no and I started avoiding taking his calls or answering him on WhatsApp.
He kept on asking for the payment which I already paid only a few days back. Now he has filed a police complaint stating mental harassment due to non-payment of the friendly loan.
He is using the WhatsApp messages that were sent before I paid the money.
What can I do now? And do I need to worry?

A friend borrowed money with interest and now refuses to repay. What to do?

2
Q: Dear Sir/Madam,
My friend asked me to give him a loan of 17,000 AED. He said he would give me interest. I was not aware at the time that interest is not allowed on private loans between individuals.
For 5 years, he said he would pay me back but he hasn't fulfilled his promise. I have only asked him to simply repay me back the principal amount and that I do not need any interest at this point.
He kept stalling and finally, I was fed up with it and informed him I would file a case. Now he is angry and he threatened me that he will sue me back since interest on personal loans is not allowed.
It is like he knew about all this from the start and manipulated me into this. I think his plan all along was to take a loan from me, offer me interest knowing it is not allowed, and then use that excuse to not repay it.
Please tell me what I can do in this situation. Will I be able to recover the amount?
I live in the UAE.

Is it necessary or allowed for me to have a lawyer with me during a remote trial session?

1
Q: Hello,
I've submitted my evidence to the prosecutor that the amount in my cheque case has already been paid; however, the person I borrowed the money from does not agree, as he wanted it to be at 15% interest only.
Now, the prosecutor has referred my criminal case (cheque case) to the court, and I will be having a remote trial session.
Is it necessary or allowed for me to have a lawyer with me during the remote trial session?

View allHow can I file for divorce in the UAE as an Indian Christian with a son, and ensure custody? 0
Hi, good morning,
I’m an Indian residing in the UAE and want to apply for a divorce. My husband and I have been living separately for more than 3 years, and he has been living in India since our separation.
We are both Indians and Christians (non-Muslims). We have a son who is 8 years old now. Can you please let me know the divorce procedure if we want to proceed in the UAE, both with and without mutual consent?
Additionally, please advise on how to proceed with custody, as my son currently resides with me.
Thank you!

How to transfer the shares of a company from his heirs to the partners? 0
A company is registered in a free zone (Dubai South) and had 4 shareholders.
But now one of them passed away and the successor is a very old lady, who is not cooperative and will not be able to sign any document at all (and she lives in another country).
We have no idea who will be a successor after this old lady and these people will in fact never be interested to do anything with this company.
The company is financed and managed by only one shareholder, who is willing to continue.
What can be done in this scenario to keep this company and continue operations?
How to transfer the shares of the deceased shareholder (buyout, shares transfer)?
Is there any court procedure where if no one claims their rights after some time, the shares will automatically be transferred to the company itself or the third parties?
Thank you.
A.

Bank filed a civil case over a loan: Better to settle with the bank or in court? 0
Good day, Sir,
I have received a message from the Dubai Court stating that a bank has filed a civil case against me. The loan has been pending since February 2019.
I cleared the cheque bounce case earlier with a court fine in 2019. I am looking forward to a minimum settlement plan with the bank. The outstanding amount was around 70,000 AED, and now the message is for 115,000 AED.
What will be the best way for me to proceed: approaching the bank or dealing with it in court?
Best regards,

Demanding that an employee pay for visa charges a year after resigning 0
Dear Lawyers,
I worked at a bakeshop here in Dubai. I resigned exactly one year ago. Now they want me to pay for visa charges, as stated in the offer letter.
If I cannot pay for the charges, my employer will claim financial loss due to the damages, estimated to be at least 7,000 AED.
What should I do about this? My monthly salary is only 2,800 AED.
