Resignation in a limited contract for elongated working hours
Q: I want to resign from my current employer because the work environment is not good and telling me to work in the office a minimum of 10 hrs a day without any overtime. I'm on a limited term employment contract with my current employer and my probation is running. If I resign, will they ask for the visa charges or something else? And what is the period of serving the notice period for resignation? Please clear my doubt.

Working for more than 10 hours a day. What to do?
Q: Hi, I am working as an admin receptionist. I work more than 10 hours during the Ramadan period and on normal days also. I work from morning 8-7:30 evening. I am a girl and even disrespected in the company. The GM asks me to clean the office and the dustbin also. I don't know what to do. During Ramadan also, I am keeping fasting, and work from morning 8-8 till evening. What steps should I take?

Can a company change the holidays of the UAE for expat employees to their country's holidays?
Q: Hello team, I have a Chinese team in a Dubai-based company, they are working in Dubai itself. Can we exempt them from Dubai national holidays and provide holidays related to China national holidays? Can you please suggest something?

An employer is forcing an employee to work overtime. What are the options?
Q: Dear Lawyers, I am being required to work overtime without being paid for it, and if I don't comply, my salary will be cut and my visa will be canceled. They have also threatened to mark my passport as "absconding." What should I do in this situation?

Can I leave the country during my notice period ?
Q: Hi Sir/Madam, I am in my notice period at my current company. I have tendered my notice. Eid holidays are also within my notice period. If I leave the country for a short visit during Eid, am I breaching my notice period? Can my employer object?

The company contract states that no overtime payment will be made. Is this legal?
Q: Hi, My company closed and terminated everyone and is willing to pay for a 14-day notice period, but not willing to pay overtime which is more than 50 hours. Its contract states: "Overtime work may be required in peak periods to meet deadlines, and this may in some cases include weekends and public holidays. No overtime payment will be made." Isn’t having such statements in the contract against the law, as the law states differently? How can I go about this?

Can I cancel my house sale contract without extra fees after personal plans changed?
Dear Lawyers, I signed a Form F with a buyer for the sale of my house as we were planning to leave the country. The contract was signed about a month ago, but the handover is not until August. Due to personal circumstances changing, we are no longer leaving Dubai and would like to cancel Form F. The Form F contract stipulates that we have to pay the buyer 10% of the purchase value. The real estate agent is now claiming that we also have to pay the buyer's real estate commission and the conveyancing fee. Our understanding is that the 10% penalty is the only penalty. Which is correct, and what are the next steps to dispute this? Also, is there any way to dispute the 10% itself under the law due to personal circumstances changing?

Can the landlord evict me from apartment for personal use if he lives in his own property?
The owner sent me a notice by email saying that he doesn't want to renew the contract for the purpose of personal use. He didn't mention what this personal use means. He already has multiple houses for rent and he has his own which he is living in currently. Is it legal to evict me? Thanks
