Can a company change the holidays of the UAE for expat employees to their country's holidays?

Hello team,

I have a Chinese team in a Dubai-based company, they are working in Dubai itself.

Can we exempt them from Dubai national holidays and provide holidays related to China national holidays?

Can you please suggest something?

Hello,

As per your query, please note that the UAE labor law is universal and is not restricted to any nationality.

Since the company is situated in the UAE and they are bound by UAE laws, the national holidays can not be exchanged with the Chinese national holidays.

The company can provide 2 holidays one is the UAE national holiday and the other can be a company off day, which can be as per the internal policy of the company, and as per the internal circular of the company.

Unfortunately, any reference to a Holiday or Public Holiday in the UAE Law was referring to the UAE Holidays only.

You can request them to work during the Holidays in the UAE and provide them with different off days.

If this is by mutual consent between you and on religious holidays, yes.

But it is better not to violate the vacation system in the country.

Hi there,

No, in Dubai (UAE) you will have to follow the local laws (Labour/Employment laws) and grant them leave as per the latest provisions.

Please feel free to contact me if you need further clarifications on the same.
