1
Q: In 2010, I was permanently banned from the UAE. At that time, I had a credit card from a bank with a limit of AED 5,000.
Due to harsh circumstances, I was unable to inform the bank before being deported by the authorities.
I did inform the bank afterward but, due to inflation and my financial situation, I was unable to repay the debt.
It has now been 14 years, and the bank is still pursuing me for the outstanding credit card balance, including the accrued interest, which now amounts to approximately AED 143,000.
I would like to inquire if I am still liable to pay this amount after all these years, including the interest. I have heard that banks typically do not follow up on such small amounts (AED 5,000) for an extended period.
Could you please provide assistance and clarification on this matter?

How to know if there is a case or travel ban if someone left the UAE with unpaid Du bills?

0
Q: Hello Lawyers,
Back in 2015, my sister was living with my mom in Dubai.
She bought an iPhone on a plan with Du during that time. After a few months and due to circumstances, she had to go back to our country.
She took the phone but left the sim here and to my and my mom's knowledge, she didn't finish paying the remaining balance.
My question is if she wants to come back here to Dubai, what kind of penalty she will face?
Is she going to have a travel ban?
Or will immigration stop her when entering the country?
I tried searching in Dubai Police but unfortunately, she doesn't have the EID now.
Thank you in Advance.

My brother was arrested in a car for possession of only 2g of drugs. What is the maximum penalty he could face? 0
Dear Sir/Madam,
I need help, please!
My brother was arrested in a car for possession of only 2g of drugs. The police charged him with possession and usage in Umm Al-Quwain.
The transaction amount was only 400. But my brother did not have any possessions; he had only borrowed money.
Another charge is that he helped a friend use drugs, but he did not help anyone. That friend is older than my brother.
May I know if this is also considered an offence, and what is the maximum penalty he could face?
He is also a first-time offender in a drug case.

What should we do if, after filing a complaint with MOHRE, the company has already paid all our salaries?
Do we still need to report to work?
Should we submit a resignation to avoid being tagged as absconded, or what would be the best solution?
Because, for us as employees, we don’t want to go back to work after what happened.

I got involved in a bar fight and wrongfully accused of assault and other charges. What to do? 0
I have a misdemeanor case under investigation. What can I do and what can I expect?
I got involved in a bar fight when my friend was punched in the face by the complainant. When I was about to approach him to ask him about it, he shoved me in the head.
I lost balance and I grabbed him, and we both fell down, then my friend and his colleagues started beating him.
CID called me for an interview, telling me that the guy complained about his watch, which I didn't steal. Then he also complained about the harassment. Which I didn't do as well.
Now, the report is saying that I have charges of indecent assault, public intoxication, causing a riot, and public cursing.
Please help me decide what to do!
I'm considering hiring a criminal lawyer to help me with this.

My father left the UAE and left his car with his cousin to continue loan payments. How to check his status? 0
Dear Sir/Ma'am,
I am planning to bring my father to Dubai for a visit. He left Dubai in 2009 due to serious medical reasons and left his car with his cousin, with an outstanding bank installment for the car, which was around AED 10,000. We subsequently cancelled his visa.
It has been over 10 years, and I am concerned about potential fines or travel bans, as we are unsure if the remaining car payments were completed by his cousin. We are not on speaking terms with his cousin, so I cannot confirm this.
I found that checking fines or travel bans usually requires an Emirates ID, but my father left Dubai before Emirates IDs were introduced and only has his passport. The company he worked for also no longer exists.
Could you please advise if there is another way to check for fines?
Kind regards!

How to cancel a contract still active after winning an RDC case? 0
Hello,
I had filed a case at RDC against my landlord as they had not responded to my legal notice for cancellation, and they had not officially renewed the contract for 2 years as well.
I won the case, and the verdict came for contract cancellation. I filed for enforcement after 15 days, and it has been a month since then. The contract is still showing as active on the Dubai REST app.
I had disconnected my DEWA and given notice 3 months in advance of the contract expiry date.
What can I do now to ensure that they cancel the contract?

I already made a complaint against my previous employer for not paying my salary and gratuity. Now I have the final judgment from the court.

How to remove a lifetime ban after serving jail term and deportation in a drug case? 0
I would like some advice.
Someone has been deported from the UAE after serving 1.5 years in jail for a drug case and has a lifetime travel ban.
Does this ban remain only in the UAE, or is it applicable to other GCC countries such as KSA, Qatar, or Oman?
Additionally, is there a way to remove this travel ban in the UAE when a person's family is still based in the UAE?
If yes. What’s the procedure?

I have received a final judgment in my favor and the employer is offering to settle. What to do? 0
Dear Team,
I have received a final judgment in my favor for 5 months' salary, and I’ve already initiated execution through Al Adheed Center.
Now, my employer is requesting to settle the matter outside the court and promises to pay the full amount within 45 days. However, due to past false promises and non-payment, I am hesitant to trust him.
Could you please advise:
1. Is it safer to continue with the execution process?
2. If I choose to accept the settlement, how can I legally document the payment schedule to ensure enforcement if he defaults?
3. Can this settlement agreement be filed or endorsed through Al Adheed or the court to keep legal pressure?
Looking forward to your guidance.

The employers are delaying my experience letter intentionally. What can I do? 0
Dear Respected Lawyers,
I need advice.
I have worked in a company for 6 years. After 4 years of leaving that company, I need a detailed experience letter mentioning my position at that time, with duties.
As per the labor law, can I get it or not, or how?
I have to submit this letter to the Ministry of Labor in the UAE to prove that my duties are matching with my visa.
The employers are not responding to my emails or even calls; they are purposefully delaying it so that I cannot get my new job.

Can I cancel my house sale contract without extra fees after personal plans changed? 2
Dear Lawyers,
I signed a Form F with a buyer for the sale of my house as we were planning to leave the country. The contract was signed about a month ago, but the handover is not until August.
Due to personal circumstances changing, we are no longer leaving Dubai and would like to cancel Form F.
The Form F contract stipulates that we have to pay the buyer 10% of the purchase value. The real estate agent is now claiming that we also have to pay the buyer's real estate commission and the conveyancing fee.
Our understanding is that the 10% penalty is the only penalty. Which is correct, and what are the next steps to dispute this?
Also, is there any way to dispute the 10% itself under the law due to personal circumstances changing?

How can I settle a loan and credit cards in the UAE to avoid travel ban in GCC countries? 0
I had a loan & credit cards in the UAE, and during my vacation, I lost my job. I still paid the installments, but I couldn’t find a job for one year.
I left and am now getting a job in Bahrain. I want to clear my loans in the UAE because it’s been two years.
Can I easily travel to Bahrain, or is it a problem, as it is a GCC country?
And how can I ask the bank to waive the interest amount?
I really need to clear off the debt with banks at the earliest now.

Legal advice needed on out-pass exit permit & spouse visa process 0
Subject:
Hello,
My name is M. R. F. Z., a Sri Lankan national currently in Dubai. I urgently require legal guidance regarding my immigration status and next steps. Briefly:
An out-pass was issued without my knowledge due to visa complications.
I need to exit the UAE on this out-pass and explore options to return on a visit visa, then adjust status to a spouse residence visa (by status change).
I am uncertain whether it is mandatory for me to fly back to Sri Lanka, or if I can exit to a nearby country such as Oman or another GCC country and re-enter for the spouse visa process.
Due to family circumstances, it is very difficult for me to travel to Sri Lanka at this time, so I would strongly prefer the nearest country option if legally possible.
Could you please let me know if your firm handles such cases?
If so, what is your consultation fee and availability for an initial discussion?

How can I remove my business partner from the company if he left the country and is not responsive? 0
I am writing to formally seek your guidance and assistance regarding my Technical Trade License and associated joint bank account.
I hold a Technical Trade License together with my business partner, Mr. K. M., who has been out of the country for the past 2–3 months. During this period, he has been unreachable and has not responded to any calls or communication.
Additionally, my partner has taken an amount of AED 30,000 from me, which has not yet been repaid. We also maintain a joint bank account under the company, which I wish to close.
However, the bank requires both partners’ signatures for cancellation. As my partner is absent and not cooperating, I am unable to proceed.
In view of the above, I kindly request your advice and support on the following:
- The process to remove my partner’s name from the Trade License.
- Guidance on how to proceed with closing or freezing the joint bank account in the absence of my partner’s signature.
I can file a case in India.
