Q: Hi, My company laid me off and refused to pay my salary for that month and also asked me to pay for my visa cancellation. Please advise if it is legal to make me pay for the cancellation of my visa after the company laid me off with no notice or warning letter, I did not resign. Now he is changing to a new company and he was told that before they cancel his work visa, we need to cancel his sponsorship visas for our kids. Do I need to give a new eviction notice to the tenant after purchasing an apartment?
Q: Hello, I am about to buy a rented apartment in Dubai. The current owner issued an eviction notice to the tenant around 9 months ago, giving them 12 months to leave the property. The reason mentioned in the notice is to sell the apartment. If I buy the apartment now, does the eviction notice transfer to me and the tenant will be forced to leave on the same date? Can the landlord notify the tenant of his intention not to renew the contract 90 days before expiry?
Q: Dear All, Our landlord`s manager has just sent us a message via Whatsapp that they will not be renewing our current contract which expires in 90 days. I just wanted to know, does this not constitute an eviction notice which I believe needs to be sent a full year in advance, and to be sent too by registered mail? Will I go to jail in my home country if I do not settle the amount of a personal loan?
Q: I found out that I have a cheque execution case in Dubai court. I was even surprised because I haven`t received any message from Dubai Police, there`s no case that`s been filed under my name. Due to the pandemic, I lost my job and came back to my home country. I used to work in a bank, I had CC and a personal loan. Last year, the amount that I need to pay to them was AED 60k including the interest. And now with the case, they`re demanding I pay 138k. I`m scared to go to jail especially since I have 4 kids, and a father who will go for another heart operation. What do I do? Is there any way I can reduce the amount? Can the employer add in the offer letter to claim visa expenses in case of resignation?
Q: Hi. Companies A & B are owned by the same person. I was hired under A with a job offer stating that if I do not finish my 2-year contract, I need to pay visa costs and training, etc. However, my visa was processed under B which is a DMCC company. And non-completion of visa payments was not mentioned in the submitted contract during visa processing. How to update the name on the visa after changing it on the passport?
Q: Hello, I am from India. I changed my first name due to personal reasons and completed all the necessary procedures (Gazette, newspaper publication), and updated my name in my passport. I need to get my name changed on my visa (sponsored by the company). They are asking me for the educational certificate with the new name for a managerial visa, which is not easy to get. Q: Dear Sir/Madam, I am a non-Muslim Indian woman married to a non-Muslim Indian man, living in Dubai. We got married in 2012 in the UK, where the marriage is registered. Unfortunately, the marriage has broken down irreparably over the past six years. I filed for divorce in October 2022, and my husband initially cooperated with the calls and summons from courts, agreeing to a divorce by mutual consent with no alimony. However, on the day of signing the documents and collecting the decree in January, he changed his mind, refused to sign, and pleaded for more time. He has since refused to take calls from the court or respond to any questions related to the divorce. 1. Besides waiting, what are my options in this situation? 2. How does the court respond to a spouse who initially agrees to a divorce and then reneges on their promise? 3.
