Deportation and possibility to return back to the UAE
Q: Hi, I am an Indian and living in Dubai for the last 25 years. My son had a criminal case on document forgery and he served three months jail term then got deported from the UAE. I am not very sure if he has been blacklisted and got a lifetime ban. The judgement states "3 months jail and deportation". Recently I checked at Sharjah Immigration and found no ban on him. However, I`m a bit scared that he will be blocked and arrested at the airport on arrival on a tourist visa. Could you please advise how to check with the Airport Immigration and to ensure that he has no ban and can enter the country? Kindly revert.

Defaulting on the payment of a loan EMI and legal consequences
Q: Dear Mr Hari, Good day. I took a loan from a bank one year back for AED 64,000 and now I have an outstanding amount of AED 48,500 which I am now unable to pay due to the loss of employment. I have also missed 1 EMI until now and have not paid this EMI for the past 3 months, however, I somehow managed to pay all the EMIs until now but I am unable to pay any further. Kindly let me know if the bank can file a criminal case against me or there are any new UAE rules according to which I only have to pay a certain fine. Also, as I lost my job recently I am on a visit visa. Kindly let me know if I will be facing a travel ban if I don`t pay? How to deal with the situation?

Ongoing labor case and timeline for visa cancellation
Q: Good evening. I have filed a labour case against my company for arbitrary dismissal and it is still ongoing. Is it alright to travel to my home country or another country even while my case is ongoing? Also, can the employer cancel my visa even while the case is ongoing? We are in a free zone and they said the free zone authority advised that the visa can be cancelled by the company after 90 days from the time the complaint was endorsed to court. Is this correct? Appreciate your advice. Thank you

Time limitation for claiming the end of service benefits
Q: I had been working for an LLC company in Dubai for 6+ years on an unlimited contract and got terminated due to company restructuring. I had signed my labour cancellation papers as they promised me that they will settle the amount at the earliest and currently working for a different company. My termination happened in Nov 2016 and I had received half the amount of my end of service benefits in instalments. I have not received the rest and they are not replying to my emails and they are telling me they will return for sure once the company is in good shape. Please let me know if I still have a chance to get my end of service benefits.

Termination by current employer for a pending investigation
Q: I have a case which is under investigation for the past year and a half related to my previous employer. I have been told verbally that I’m clear but due to the process I have to wait until the investigation is completed and moves to the public prosecutor to get my passport back. I have been currently working with a semi-government organisation for two years now and they have decided to suspend me and have been forcing me to resign based on this case. I have tried to negotiate with them to wait for the case to be moved to the public prosecutor and now they are saying they will terminate me. Labour ban for resignation before completing one year
Q: I have got a 1-year ban because of leaving my previous job in 6 months and now I have an offer letter from a new company. They are going to process my visa under unskilled labour which was the same in my previous contract. I want to know if this gets rejected, will I have any legal claim against the company who offered me a job?
