What are the labor rights I am eligible to in case of termination without notice?
Q: Hi, I got terminated from the company in Jan this year after working there for almost 4 & half years. They terminated me without any notice & gave me 1 month`s salary along with gratuity in my final settlement. Recently, I came to know through my friend that I should have been given 3 months` salary as they terminated my contract. I am not aware if it was an unlimited or a limited contract but they only paid me 1 month`s salary as compensation. Please help me in this case, to know if my friend`s claim is right.Dec 13, 2022

Can the old employer ask the new employer to pay salaries paid to the employee?
Q: Dear Sir/Mam, As per clause 3 of Article (9) of the Federal Decree-Law No.33, if the worker wishes to move during the probationary period, to work for another employer in the State, he shall notify the original employer of the same in writing within not less than one month from the date of his wish to terminate the contract. Then, the new employer shall compensate the original employer for the costs of recruitment or contracting with the worker, unless otherwise agreed upon. What do "the costs of recruitment or contracting" mean? I resigned after serving for 5 months and gave a 1-month notice period as well. My current employer is asking for 6 months` salary from the new employer because as per him, the probation period salary is also part of the "Recruitment Cost". Please advise. Would the "costs of recruitment" or contracting include SALARY as well?

Can a developer make a claim of arbitrary charges?
Q: Dear sir/madam, For a property purchased for AED 757,000/- the developer has sent a notice prior to handover and has claimed: 1) AED 10,000 /- (as admin fee); though the initial representation was utilities + admin will be AED 5000/- 2) AED 33,000 /- (as utility charges); unable to understand what this is for and no supporting documentation provided. Can a developer make a claim of arbitrary charges? How is the purchaser protected by law? How can we force the developer to correct this to only legitimate fees/charges? Thank you in advance!

When does a notice period begin?
Q: Hello sir/madam, I have been working for a company since 15 November last year and I put in my resignation letter on the 30 of Nov this year. I stated in my resignation letter that I am resigning effective 29th December 2022. After more than a week, the company says that their understanding is that I will start my notice period effective 29th December. I have sent a clarification email and an amended resignation letter stating that my notice period begins on the 30th of November and my last day of work will be the 29th of December. The company refuses to accept this and is still sticking on to its logic and understanding and is playing on the wording of the original resignation letter.
