Q: Hi, I live in Dubai and I just topped up my loan. I also have a credit card from a bank. I always pay on time. I was offered a job abroad and my visa will be canceled soon. Will I be allowed to exit the country? Will they ban me from leaving as soon as they know that my visa got canceled? I know I can pay my debt from abroad but I was just wondering. Thank you!

Q: Hello, I overstayed on a Sharjah visit visa and I applied for a fine reduction. My application got approved and I paid the fine and get updating paper from Sharjah immigration. After a few days, my fine is cleared from the system and I booked a ticket to go back to my country from Dubai, but Dubai immigration canceled my boarding pass and asked me to go back to Sharjah immigration and get outpass if I want to leave. I applied for outpass and traveled from Sharjah airport. Again, immigration stopped me and said that I am not cleared and that if I want to leave, I can not come again. I explained well and they stamped exit on my passport and asked me to go. Now, I am scared that I got banned or blacklisted. How can I check if I have a ban or restriction to enter the country again?

The time frame for processing a car accident case by the public prosecutor

Q: Dear sir/madam, I was hit by a car and has resulted in my arm getting fractured/broken. I shouldered all the cost of my surgery to recovery. Now, I`m recovering. I filed a police case after I was discharged from the hospital, after 3 weeks. I made a follow-up on my case with the police department and they told me that it has been forwarded to the public prosecutor and is still under processing. My questions are the following: 1) How long does it take for the public prosecutor to process my case and will someone notify me of the progress of my case? Or do I have to make follow up with the police every time? 2) I have not filed any compensation damages yet, against the car insurance of the person who hit me, as I am waiting for the result of my case, would that be fine? How to claim the money back after finding that a car is faulty?

Q: Dear sir/madam, My husband and I (Swiss, new Dubai residents) bought a car in Dubai and drove it together with the seller (private), everything seemed in perfect condition. When preparing for the insurance, we learned it was an “accident car”. We contacted the seller who explained that he had imported the car from the US and repaired it but it was in perfect condition (apart from a few scratches), which we naively believed and trusted. After purchasing the car, we realized that the airbag and AC did not work. We brought the car to the Orange Auto test center which detected faults in the Digital Engine Electronic, Airbag, Gateway, Rear end electronic, and AC. We asked the seller to return the car and get our money back, or we would sue him for deception related to the sale of a vehicle with significant safety deficiencies. The seller responded that if we are not happy, we should sell it again. Please let me know if you can help me in suing the seller!

Asking a tenant to evict a property via email only. Is it effective?

Q: Hello, I live in a villa in Dubai with my family. Last year when I renewed my tenancy agreement, the landlord informed me via email that he would not be renewing the tenancy in the following year as he wants to sell the property. He informed me that he would send a notarised eviction letter by registered post. This eviction letter never arrived, therefore as there are less than 90 days left on the tenancy agreement which ends in Jan 2023, I requested for the lease to be renewed. The landlord responded to me telling me that he will not be renewing the lease as he informed me last year via email that he would not be renewing this year. I told him that as he didn`t send a notarised eviction notice or letter by registered post then he should renew the tenancy for another 12 months. He has refused and said that I should vacate the property at the end of my current tenancy. Please can you advise if he is correct? Thank you!
