If you remain unaddressed for a long period of time, a violation/absconding order may be issued against you, resulting in higher fines or a ban from future employment.

Dear Client,

If your Emirates ID expired on May 14 and your company is blocked, you can still change your visa status in the UAE by following these steps:

- Secure New Sponsorship: Find a new employer or sponsor willing to provide you with a new visa.

- Apply for Status Amendment: Log in to the UAE smart services system (using UAE Pass or username), fill out the status amendment application, attach required documents (passport, old visa copy, new entry permit), and pay the fees.

- Act Within Grace Period:

After visa expiry or cancellation, you typically have a grace period (up to 30 days or more, depending on your visa type) to change your status or exit the country before fines apply.

- Pay Fines if Overdue:

If you have already overstayed, pay any fines and proceed with the status change to avoid further penalties.

If you need help, visit an Amer Center or contact ICP at [----------] for guidance.

Under UAE Labor Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021) and current immigration regulations, if your Emirates ID and visa expired on 14 May and your sponsoring company is blocked or closed, you are entitled to a grace period of up to 6 months to regularize your status without incurring overstay fines.

As per MOHRE guidelines, since the company cannot process renewals or cancellations, you are legally allowed to transfer to a new employer without requiring a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

If dues are pending, you may file a labor complaint through MOHRE to claim your rights. You can either transfer to a new sponsor inside the UAE or exit and re-enter on a new visa, in accordance with UAE immigration provisions.

Thank You!

Dear questioner,

Your new employer can apply for a "change of status" visa for you while you are still inside the UAE. This allows you to transition from your previous visa (even if linked to a blocked company and your ID is expired) to a new employment visa without having to exit the country.

This process usually requires your current visa to still be valid or within its grace period. Given that your ID expiry is imminent, this needs to happen very quickly.
