Pregnant by an Emirati man refusing a DNA test—how can I get support?

Hello,

I am pregnant by an Emirati man who is refusing to take a DNA test because he doesn’t want to help or support me or his baby.

We are currently homeless, jobless, and struggling without health insurance, and my visa is about to expire.

Can you help me?

Hello,

Facing homelessness, joblessness, lack of insurance, visa expiration, and refusal of paternity support, you need immediate legal counsel in family law, social services assistance for housing and healthcare, urgent medical attention, immigration support for your visa, and legal action to compel a paternity test.

Dear Client,

Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.

Contact emergency housing services like Ma'an for temporary shelter. Seek free medical care from hospitals offering services to stranded pregnant women.

Reach out to support organizations such as DFWAC or Ewa'a Shelter for assistance and possible job placement.

Consult legal counsel about establishing paternity and child support rights. Urgently address your visa situation by contacting your home country's embassy in the UAE for guidance on your options.

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Questioner,

Thank you for reaching out to us!

I understand that you are going through a challenging time, and I am here to provide you with the legal guidance you need.

Regarding the situation with the father of your child, and given that you are facing difficulties, including homelessness and lack of support, I recommend that we pursue legal action to ensure that your rights and the rights of your child are protected.

In the UAE, a biological father has legal responsibilities towards his child, which may include financial support (child support).

Although the father is refusing to participate in the DNA testing, this does not absolve him of his responsibilities.

We can file a legal case requesting a court-mandated DNA test to establish paternity, which will allow us to pursue support claims through the family courts.

As for your current living situation, job status, and visa concerns, you may also be eligible for assistance based on your circumstances.

In terms of health insurance, you may qualify for access to public healthcare or other government programs depending on your visa status.

To move forward, I will need some additional details from you, and we can arrange for a consultation. Please bring any documents or evidence you may have that can support your case.

I recommend scheduling a meeting as soon as possible to discuss the next steps and to start addressing your legal needs.

Please let me know a convenient time for you to speak, and I will ensure that we proceed accordingly.

Best regards,

Mohammed Salah

Dear Ma'am

Greetings of the day!

According to UAE law, a child born to an Emirati father is considered a citizen of the UAE and is entitled to all the rights and privileges of citizenship.

This includes financial support from the father, regardless of his relationship with the mother.

If the father is refusing to acknowledge paternity or provide support, you can file a case with the Family Guidance Committee, which is a government agency that helps resolve family disputes.

They can order the father to undergo a DNA test and provide financial support for the child. In the meantime, you can also seek assistance from charities or organizations that provide support for pregnant women and new mothers in the UAE.

Best regards,
