Questions & Answers
Can I re-enter the UAE if I left without canceling my visa after my company went bankrupt?
Hi,
I left Abu Dhabi in 2020 and did not cancel my residence visa because I wanted to return. However, our company suddenly declared bankruptcy, and I have no chance to return to the UAE.
Am I allowed to enter the UAE again without a cancellation paper?
Thanks!
Greetings,
Your residence is considered canceled if you are outside the country for more than a year. You can enter the Emirates with a tourist visa.

Hello,
Generally, if you have not canceled your residence visa and your company has gone bankrupt, your visa may still be technically active.
However, you might face complications when trying to re-enter the UAE. It’s important to check if you’re on a blacklist or if there are any issues with your visa status.

Dear questioner,
Yes, there are chances to return to the UAE; however, it would be better to check for any travel bans to see if there are restrictions imposed on your name due to non-cancellation.
Kindly share your WhatsApp number if you need assistance with this.
Dear Questioner,
According to UAE law, it is mandatory for all residents to cancel their residence visa before leaving the country permanently.
Failure to do so may result in legal consequences, such as fines or a ban from entering the country again.
We need to check the system to see if you have any bans.
Please contact our senior legal consultant Mr. Muhammad Abdullah on WhatsApp for more details.
Dear Questioner,
The resident is not allowed to stay outside the United Arab Emirates for more than six months.
Accordingly, the residence visa may be invalidated and a new entry permit must be applied for. However, the UAE has announced some exceptions that allow the resident to remain outside the country for more than six months.
Dear Questioner,
Thank you for your inquiry!
Before we can initiate the legal process, we will require a Power of Attorney (POA) to represent you before government authorities and police stations. To facilitate the notarization of the POA, please provide the following documents:
- A copy of your old and new passport
- A copy of your Visa
- A copy of your Emirates ID
Once we receive these documents to our email at [-------], we will draft the POA in both English and Arabic. We will then send it to you for your review, signature, and return.
Afterward, we will submit the POA to the federal Notary Public for notarization. The Notary will provide a link for a remote meeting, during which your original passport will be verified and you will sign electronically.
We will cover the notary's legal fees and obtain a digital copy of the notarized POA. Please note that the notary's fees amount to USD 140.
Upon receipt of the digitally notarized POA, we will conduct a check on your criminal record in the UAE to ascertain if there are any cases, travel bans, arrest warrants, or execution files registered under your name.
This process typically takes about four working days, and our professional fees for this service are USD 320.
Please let us know if you have any questions or need further assistance.
Best regards,
Mo. Salah
