Can my husband cancel the visas for me and my daughter as his dependents?

Greetings,

My husband works in Abu Dhabi but we live in Dubai. My daughter and I are dependent on his work visa.

He has quite a temper and he threatened to cut both our residence/dependent visas.

Is this possible and enforceable?

Greetings.

If the residence visa is under his sponsorship, he can cancel it through the ICP application.

Hi,

No, your husband cannot unilaterally cut your and your daughter's dependent visas.

While your husband, as the primary visa holder, has a significant influence over your and your daughter's residency status, he cannot terminate your visas without your consent or a legal reason, including providing a valid reason and notifying the relevant authorities.

Greeting,

Yes, he can cancel the visas. However, in this case, you can apply to the judge for an order on a petition requiring him to renew your and your daughter's visas, even if the marital relationship ends, as long as you remain in the country.

Thanks,

Dear Inquirer

In the UAE, the sponsor (in this case, your husband) has the legal authority to cancel the residence visas of dependents (you and your daughter) since they are issued under his work visa.

However, this action comes with certain considerations and potential consequences:

- Possibility of Visa Cancellation.

- Authority to Cancel.

Yes, your husband, as the sponsor, has the right to cancel the dependent visas of his wife and children.

This process typically involves submitting an application to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Consequences of Cancellation:

If the residence visas are canceled, you and your daughter would have to leave the UAE or change your visa status within the grace period (usually 30 days) after the cancellation.

It is best to have a lawyer present to prevent any risks that may occur.

Yes, it’s possible.

As long as your visas are issued by him under his work, then it’s possible for him to cancel them.

But if you like you can make your own visas after cancellation when it happens.
