Questions & Answers
Can the court expert extend the timeline of delivering his report?
In my misdemeanor case of 150,000, the case is in the upper court and is with the Ruler's Court expert.
The case went to the Ruler's Court expert in October 2023, and the expert picked the case in Jan 2024.
He said that the report will be ready in Apr 2024. Now there is a 2-month extension.
Is there any timeline as to how much time the expert can take?
Also, is there a maximum time as to how much time the case can stay in the upper court?
Dear.
The expert’s delay in submitting the report to the court depends on many reasons, and the court alone is competent to monitor the expert.
In any case, you can file a complaint against the expert if he was intentionally late or was negligent in his work.
Hello,
It depends upon the complexity of your specific case. We will need more details of your matter for the same.
Meanwhile, you can follow up with the upper court for the delay.
If you'd like please share your WhatsApp number for further discussion.

Dear Mr. H.,
You should always keep in touch with the expert, and submit a request to the court to expedite the report.

In Dubai, while there are general guidelines for the duration of legal proceedings, the specific timelines can vary based on the complexity of the case, the workload of the court, and other factors.
Regarding the expert report, while there is no strict deadline prescribed by law, it is expected that the expert completes their assessment within a reasonable time frame.
However, extensions may be granted depending on the circumstances of the case.
As for the duration of the case in the upper court, again, there is no fixed maximum time stipulated by law. However, the court strives to handle cases efficiently and expediently.
Delays may occur due to various reasons, including the complexity of the case, the workload of the court, and the availability of parties involved.
To better understand the specific circumstances of your case and to provide you with personalized guidance, I would recommend scheduling a consultation.
