Calculating the working days of annual leave

Hi,

Good morning.

Please advise how many annual leave days a person is eligible in UAE? Is it working or calendar days?

Our company is off during Friday and Saturday and I wanted to take annual leave on Thu (Dec.20) and I will rejoin on Dec. 23 (Sunday).

How many annual leave days should be deducted from me?

Another scenario, if I went for annual leave from Dec. 20 (Thu) until Dec. 23 (Sun) and will rejoin on Dec. 24, how many days should be deducted from me?

Thank you so much for your help.

In accordance with Article 78 of the Federal Law 8 of 1980, you can claim wage and leave salary i.e Basic Salary plus Housing Allowance if you have worked during your annual leave and the period of leave during which you worked, has not been carried forward to the next year. you can claim maximum 2 years annual leave.

An employee is entitled to an annual leave of not less than two days of leave for every month if their service is more than six months and less than a year. 30 days annually if their service exceeds one year.

The calculation of the duration of annual leave shall include national holidays specified by law or weekends if they fall within the annual leave and shall be deemed to be part thereof - Article 77 of the Labour law.

So if you went on Thu (Dec.20) and you will rejoin on Dec. 23 (Sunday) = you took 3 days of leave.

Dec. 20 (Thu) until Dec. 23 (Sun) it will be 4 days.
