Can I register our Dubai marriage in the Philippines after my wife's passing?

Hi,

I'm a Filipino. I got married in Dubai way back in 2005. We didn't get a chance to register our marriage in the Philippines.

Unfortunately, my wife died this year and we have some properties that I need to handle.

Is it possible to register our marriage even though my wife is now deceased?

Dear Questioner,

If you have some documents proving your marriage, then you can ask for the property.

Dear Questioner,

We are here to respond to your consultation.

Yes, it is possible to register your marriage in the Philippines after your wife's death, but the procedures are slightly different from recording a couple's marriage alive.

Here are some steps you should follow:

- Collection of required documents:

1. Copy of your wife's death certificate.

2. Copy of your passport.

3. Copy of your late wife's passport.

4. A copy of the marriage contract issued by Dubai.

5. Any other documents that may be required by the Philippine Consulate.

- All documents must be translated into Filipino by a certified translator.

- Head to the Philippine Consulate in Dubai:

You must submit all required documents to the Philippine Consulate in Dubai. The consulate will review and verify the authenticity of the documents. After reviewing the documents, the consulate will issue you a marriage certificate.

For further inquiries about your topic, you can reach our office or contact us via email or WhatsApp.

Dear Inquirer,

Yes, you can still prove your marriage even after the wife's death. Simply visit the Philippine embassy in Dubai to complete the required procedures for proving the marriage and obtaining a certificate.

This certificate can then be presented to the relevant authorities in the Emirates. Once this step is completed, you can proceed with the legal actions necessary for handling real estate ownership and management in Dubai.

Please contact us via email or call our offices in Dubai or Sharjah.

Dear Questioner,

Registration requires both spouses to be alive and present. However, you can still prove your marital status for property purposes through other means.

If you have a marriage certificate issued in Dubai, you can file a Report of Marriage with the Philippine Embassy or Consulate.

This report won't register the marriage in the Philippines, but it establishes a record of your marriage with your deceased wife.

You'll need the original and photocopies of your Dubai marriage certificate and your wife's death certificate for this process.

Share your WhatsApp number, we will discuss more about the procedures.

In the UAE, that's not possible.

If you can register the marriage in the Philippines, then the marriage contract can be used in the UAE.

Or obtain a certificate from the Philippines stating that you are the heir of your deceased wife.
