Questions & Answers
Can I cancel the email agreement on rent before signing the lease contract?
Canceling rental agreement before signing it.
By email, I agreed to rent an apartment, no lease or contract has been signed.
However, the agent asked for a photo of the cheques for verification purposes only, which I provided.
No money or physical cheque has been exchanged.
How easily can I back out of the agreement?
Would changing my mind and backing out of the agreement be a breach of contract?
Would the copy of the cheques be a "consideration"?
Many thanks

Greetings,
As long as you do not sign the contract, you do not have any obligations and you do not have any rights.
The contract is the law of the contracting parties. Concerning the cheques, we do not know if you delivered the originals or only the photographs.
If the originals were delivered, you have the right to recover them if the signature was not actually made.
For further inquiries about your topic, you can reach our office or contact us on WhatsApp.

You can back up if there is no contract of any kind.
Dear questioner
If there is no proper Ejari, then you can withdraw from the agreement by sending an official email to the agent and the concerned.
There is no valid agreement yet or no terms of an agreement signed so the photocopies of the cheque cannot be a "consideration".

Dear questioner
You can withdraw from the proposal after sharing a formal email and the photocopies of cheques cannot be considered as a consideration to the transaction unless there's a contract.
