Questions & Answers
Is it necessary to cancel the work permit to obtain a golden visa?
Hello,
I received the initial approval for a golden visa from GDRFA and was advised to cancel my current employment visa to proceed with finalizing the new golden visa.
During the cancellation process by my employer, the system requests the cancellation of the work permit to proceed.
My intention is to continue working with my current employer under the same conditions, only changing the visa to golden, and this is agreed upon with the employer.
Kindly advise whether I have to cancel the existing labor contract.
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.
To convert your employment visa to a golden visa, it's generally necessary to cancel your existing labor contract, as the golden visa is typically for retirees, investors, entrepreneurs, or skilled professionals rather than individuals employed under regular work contracts.

Dear Questioner,
Consider seeking advice from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) to navigate the specific steps in this scenario.
Explore alternatives such as temporary leave, establishing a new contract with identical terms, or engaging in negotiations with your employer to achieve flexibility.
