Just want to ask what will I do if my company is asking me to sign my cancellation papers without giving my end of service/gratuity?
Is it allowed in the labor law?

Q: Hi Rajasree,
My Concern is I have worked with a company for almost close to four years and just recently I moved to another organization before a month.
Upon cancellation of my visa, the previous organization has assured to provide me with all dues in the future, and hence, I have signed the same.
As you are well aware of that, companies would not wait for the arrival of employees quite longer than usual and on mutual faith, I have signed the cancellation document.
Now on a recent development, the previous organization's MD has not responded to any calls and of course, I have sent an email. My pending dues are close to around AED 14K including two months' remuneration as well.
Please suggest your advice and help!

Is it possible to claim the EOSB after signing the cancellation paper?

Q: Hi,
I am working for a company in Dubai that has a trade license registered both under the mainland and in the free zone.
My work permit was under free zone for the last 06 years and now they have requested me to cancel the free zone visa and get the new work permit under the mainland.
They have forwarded me a document from Tecom to proceed with the cancellation, stating that I have received all my dues as part of gratuity.
However, the mitigation company has given a service continuation letter stating this is just an internal process and I have not received my dues.
Is this enough to protect me legally from any dispute that may occur in the future, or do I need to ask them for a notary attestation of the outstanding dues to get more protection from a legal perspective?
Kindly advise.

How can I claim my unpaid salaries if my visa is about to expire and the employer did not pay?

Q: My company has held almost 5 to 6 months of my salary. On 16 May, my contract expired and the company refused to pay me my salary.
I asked them for an update as I didn't travel to work due to lack of funds. There was no reply for 2 days and on the 3rd day, I decided to resign.
They accepted my resignation after 2 days. The next day, I completed my handover process and since then I have been following up with them by visiting the company and by email.
They have not provided me with the final settlement details yet with all this happening while I am in my grace period. I filed a complaint with the Ministry of Labor.
The Ministry representative contacted the finance manager and they told him that the owner was out of the country.
Once my grace period is over, who will pay the overstaying charges?
I have not signed the cancellation and I have to stay back so that I can get all my pending salaries and EOS.

Q: I joined the company (Media City free zone) on December 4th, 2023, and resigned on February 15th, 2025. We agreed that my last working day would be April 15, 2025, as my contract specifies a two-month notice period.
Yesterday, March 25, 2025, I received an email from the HR department requesting that I sign the visa cancellation letter today or before receiving my end-of-service payment and final salary.
I have researched the DMCC and UAE laws and found that I should not sign any visa cancellation letter until I have received my payment.
I was provided with a final settlement letter from the company yesterday. The amount mentioned is correct; however, the letter includes clauses related to the payment that I do not agree with.
According to my research, and in line with UAE law, there is no legal requirement for employees to sign an internal release or waiver to receive these statutory entitlements.

My landlord notified me 90 days before my contract’s end of a 15% rent increase, raising it from AED 55,000 to AED 63,250. However, according to the RERA index, the maximum increase should be 5%. I tried to negotiate, but they refused.
On October 15, I made an offer and deposit of AED 57,250 (including the RERA-approved increase). The judge accepted it, but the landlord rejected it, claiming their other 1-bedroom units rent for AED 75,000.
My contract expired on October 31, 2024. Recently, the landlord emailed saying I’m now staying illegally and will be charged AED 100 per day for not signing a new contract.
Last week, I requested a new contract based on the RERA index, but they responded by refusing my offer and deposit, demanding full payment.
My question:
Should I be concerned, or should I let them pursue a case?
Or just wait and see?

Hi everyone,
I’m facing an issue with my rental situation and would appreciate any advice.
I purchased a company in July that’s renting a shop space, and the tenancy contract (under the company’s name) is ending on November 22.
The landlord is insisting on a 40% rent increase, even though the RERA Index clearly indicates a 0% increase for this area.
I’ve informed the landlord that this increase isn’t in line with RERA regulations, requested a new contract, and asked him to come by to collect the cheques—but he’s been unresponsive.
To protect our position, I filed an offer and deposit with the rental dispute center, but it was automatically closed because the landlord didn’t respond.
My question is: what should I do next?
Filing a case for renewal will cost 5% of the rent, which is a significant amount right now.
Are there any alternatives to proceed without incurring that cost, or any other steps to ensure the landlord adheres to the regulated rental terms?

In a penal case that is still at the investigation stage, if your statement was taken and they realized you are truly innocent, with your name included only by association, is there a chance that your name can be dropped before being referred to court?

After working with them for 1 month, I experienced a salary delay, and I had to go to the office to ask why there was a delay in my salary.
That is when the HR told me she deducted my whole salary to recover the transfer fee.
Now my question is, who is supposed to pay for the transfer fee, the employee or the employer?

I want to inquire regarding my leave privileges. I am now 11 months in my company. How many leaves am I privileged to?
Based on Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 regulating labour relations and its executive regulations, you are entitled to a paid weekly rest for not less than one day, as specified in the work contract or the work regulation.
The Council of Ministers may increase the weekly rest day stipulated in this article. The Decree-Law and its executive regulations also stipulate that you are entitled to an annual leave with full pay as follows:
- Thirty days for each year of your extended service.
- Two days per month in respect of any employee with more than six months and less than one year of service.
- Leave for parts of the last year of your service in case it is terminated before you use your annual leave balance.
Now my question is: do I have 22 days I can use? Can someone explain to me in detail?

My company has filed a complaint against me in MOHRE related to training fees.
This is the clause mentioned in my contract:
"The Second Party shall be obliged to pay back the value of the training (which is estimated at an amount of 10000 AED) when they terminate the employment contract based on their own free will (within One Year) from the date of commencement of their contract, without prejudice to the First Party's legal or contractual obligations. (the amount agreed on for the value of the training period must be commensurate with the employment period of the employee)"
My question is:
1. I served 11 months in the company. Can they demand the full 10,000 or it should be less due to 11 months (as per the last line of the clause)?
2. I didn't even get training from the company. I learned normally by working on projects with seniors. No training session was conducted for me. Should I still have to pay?
My case is in MOHRE.
