Questions & Answers
What happens after winning a compensation case against a landlord?
Hello,
I have won a compensation case against my ex-landlord in Dubai because he re-rented the property after giving me notice that he was selling.
I have two questions:
1. By issuing an execution/enforcement order, does that mean he won't be able to re-rent or sell any of his other properties until he pays the compensation?
2. Am I able to claim legal fees in addition to the court and expert fees?
Thank you!
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you in this matter.
- An execution order may restrict your ex- landlord's financial transactions, but not necessarily re-renting or selling other properties.
- Legal fees can be claimed as part of compensation, but details depend on the court's judgment.

- There is only an obligation on the landlord's part to give you the compensation amount, but it does not mean it should be given before selling or renting it. But you should implement the execution order before the time-lapse.
- To claim back the legal and expert fees, you must make a request in this regard before the court.

It depends on the specific details of your case and the ruling of the court.
Generally, an execution/enforcement order would require the landlord to pay the compensation that was awarded to you.
Depending on the specifics of the case, the court may also order the landlord to not rent or sell any of his other properties until the compensation is paid.
As for legal fees, you may be able to claim them in addition to court and expert fees, however, this will depend on the ruling of the court and the judge.
