UAE jail: How is the sentence duration calculated?

Hi,

Can you guide me on the rules of UAE jail? Do they count day and night as one day?

If someone is sentenced to 3 years in jail, does it mean they will be there for 1.5 years?

Please guide me!

Dear Client,

Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you in this matter.

In the UAE, when someone is sentenced to jail, they typically serve their full sentence based on the specified term.

The sentence duration is not halved or adjusted for day and night counts. If someone is sentenced to 3 years in jail, they will generally serve the full 3 years.

Dear Questioner,

There is no such rule in the UAE. They are counted as normal days.

The term is calculated from the time of arrest, and 23 days are calculated as a month, unless it was a discretionary penalty.
