Questions & Answers
Can a single mother claim child support if she is not married to the father?
I have a question related to the new rule in the UAE related to a single mother.
The mother declared herself as a single mother and had a judgment from the court as a single mother and the baby is from a boyfriend without marriage.
Can she later on after 4 or 6, file a case against the boyfriend/father of the baby for monthly expenses?
What legal option she can use against the father of the baby even if she has already declared herself as a single mother and has a passport for a baby?
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question, I hope you are doing well. I will definitely assist you with this matter.
Yes, a single mother in the UAE can file a legal case against the father of the baby or child support even if she has initially declared herself as a single mother.
The fact that she has a judgment from the court as a single mother and has the baby's passport doesn't prevent her from seeking financial support from the father.
She can file a case for child support through the relevant legal channels to secure financial assistance from the father for the child's upbringing and expenses.
