Please note that for cancellation of the visa, the employer needs your original passport which will then be submitted to the Immigration office for cancellation of visa. I am assuming this has not been done.

In such a circumstance, two things are possible-

1- Your employer has put an absconding case on you as you did not come to work and their visa obligation is completed here.

2- They have not cancelled your visa, and your visa has automatically been cancelled since you were out of the UAE for more than 6 months.

I hope it's the second situation with you and not the absconding case, as the absconding case can result in a permanent ban on you.

I suggest before travelling to the UAE, you do an inspection with the Immigration department about any impediments on your passport if any.
