Q: My brother in law is in jail for taking AED 12 million from his company and he is in jail (Abu Dhabi, UAE) under remand. I don't know whether he had taken the money or not, but his employer is saying he had taken it and given him a confession letter. I don't know about the confession they took. I had not seen him because it happened last week and I am not able to go and meet him as it is very far from my house and also I have no blood relation.  I need to take permit from the prosecution department. I trying to meet him by next week. Kindly advise me what I need to do. Also, advise me on: 1. Suppose the above thing has happened, how many years he needs to be in jail? 2. If it is a false case by the employer, how will we prove his innocence? 3. Will the court give a chance to him to prove he is innocent and how? Please note that he has no advocate. 4. I assume this will be a false case as the employer is saying he started doing so for the last three years. This company had every year annual audit and they did not find.

Q: Due to the harassment, I left the job and return to India without informing my company as if I told them they will not let me leave. But now they filed a case in the UAE that I have stolen AED 20000 from the company, and they also filed a case in India. Now they want to take me back to Dubai for further inquiry by filing a case in India and are demanding local police to send me back to Dubai. Please advise me.

Q: My Facebook profile about my depression state was shared with people at work who showed to me and also confirmed in writing addressing the issue via email confirming my post was shared with them. This has caused a lot of damage to my reputation in the workplace and which led to my termination under the false pretence of underperformance during the probation period. They also had facts and records to prove that my performance was good but due to my reputation at work, I was wrongfully terminated. I want to know from a legal point if I want to press charges on the people who showed and circulated my Facebook post which was non-work related, how can I exercise my rights as an abiding citizen? Q: Hi, I am working in a free zone company in Dubai since 2016 as an accountant. Can I claim compensation for self-respect, as my boss insulted me by calling in an animal name in front of all for a mistake which I couldn't bear and don't want to continue with this company anymore?

Q: Is there any legal action I can take against a person for spreading false hearsay stories publicly which are false and not even linked to his company & he never checks with me on the true facts? The background story: I have legal negotiations and proceedings going on with a company that signed a business deal (between companies) with my company registered outside the UAE. While all this is ongoing legally, I get to know that the employee of this company with whom I am legally negotiating the disputed contract separately has gone and spoken to my ex-employer's CEO (as they are good friends) and they have started telling rumors and wrong facts in the market making everyone think that "I ran away with the money". This is ruining my reputation with friends and ex-colleagues with whom I worked for a decade and also in the industry I worked in generally in Dubai. I do have at least 3 people who have come forward and told me about these stories from the same ex-employer. Appreciate guidance.

Q: Hi, Please note that I am the business owner of a Free Zone company (Ajman, UAE). I was successfully running the business for the last 3 years. Unfortunately, one of my ex-employees who left us 6 months back has made access to our free zone portal using our password from outside, downloaded some employment contracts, payrolls and sent a big list of false allegations against me and my company to defame us and spoil the reputation of the company. The ex-employee has sent these messages through his personal Whatsapp number to the COO of our USA-based buyer. He sent all these documents and made false allegations about me, my staff, and my family in person to defame me in front of our prime US customer. A team member of the US buyer has emailed me and Whatsapped me these details to do an enquire about the facts. Is there anything I can do legally to ex-employee? All I have is the Whatsapp messages and emails from my buyer regarding these things. The ex-employee is running his business in Dubai.

Q: Dear Team, My visa has been canceled on 13 Jan 2023. After a few days on 23rd Jan 2023, my employer lodged a labor complaint for damage and loss. My question is that, will that case be valid after the cancellation? And due to an emergency in my family, can I leave the UAE for my home country now? Please help.
