Can I leave the UAE after applying for residency and return later?

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am applying to transfer my US immigration case to the UAE and I am working on getting an UAE work permit. I understand that applying for residency comes with it.

My question is, when I enter the UAE on a work permit, how long do I have to live in the UAE?

Do I have to stay until I receive the printed residency card? Or do I have to stay until I get my interview letter and/or until I do the interview?

Could I leave after the residency card has been applied for (but not received) and come back for the interview?

I have read that you can leave as long as you come back before 6 months.

Thank you!

Good day,

Once you have served with a resident visa, you can leave the country for 180 days, but you must return to the UAE within 180 days, otherwise your granted residence visa will be canceled.

It is advisable to leave the country after your visa has been stamped in your passport. Once your visa has been stamped, you can travel and come back for your interview.

Please feel free to contact us via phone or email if you have any further questions.
