Obligation to pay the repatriation expenses to an employee upon resignation

Kindly advise if the company (Dubai based) is obliged to pay the employee the cost of an air ticket back home country upon resignation.

It's a limited contract and the notice period was served, but the employee didn't finish the contract (worked for 11 months & 20 days only).

The employer is obligated to bear the expenses of returning the worker to his country or any other place that the two parties have agreed upon unless he has joined the service of another employer, or the reason for terminating the work contract is attributed to the worker, in which case, the worker is committed to those expenses.

The two parties may terminate the contract for a legitimate reason, on the condition of notifying the other in writing within a period agreed upon in the contract.

Dear Sir,

Is it as per the UAE Labor law?

Or does it still depend on the company if they will provide the ticket or not since I will not finish my 1-year of employment?

Thank you.

Hi Sir,

As per our HR, I’m not eligible for a ticket since I resigned and didn’t finish 1 year.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Your rights are due to the employment contract. Please note that our answer is academic and we cannot answer you without looking at the employment contract.
